Webkinz in the Washer?

Well, I came upon my 6 yr old giving his webkinz a bath outside with the hose. SO, they're soaked through and dirty now and am wondering if anyone has put theirs through the washer and dryer? The label says surface wash, but I'm thinking they need a little more than that at this point. Please advise!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

It worked! I put them (6) in pillow cases (3) and in the washing machine. When the cycle was over, two of the three pillowcases had opened, but they were fine. And I just got them out of the dryer on gentle, low heat and they're all in tact. Whew! Thanks everyone!

Yep, they wash great! Just put them in a pillow case and wash them in cold. I have even put my son's in the dryer (still in the pillow case). I suggest you do low heat, but I actually did it on high........

I haven't washed a webkins yet but have washed a lot of other stuffed animals. Put them in a pillow case and wash them on a gentle cycle. They came out fine.

My children's favorite animal has always been a Ty Beanie Buddies monkey. It also says to surface wash, but I have always put them in the washer and the dryer and they come out looking like new. We only have a couple of webkinz and they haven't needed washing yet, but I am sure I will do the same thing. I just put them in with other items, like blankets or something bulky (seems like I wash them when I wash their bedding) and they have turned out fine. I would say that as long as you put them on a gentler cycle, they will be fine. Good luck!

Go ahead but make sure to put it in a pillow case like Laurie B. said. That way if the little guy falls to pieces, all his parts are in one place! It has saved a toy or two in our house before!

Yes, you can wash them and dry them! We already washed Crystal, Snowflake, Lilo and KatieBoo, they all came fine!
It gives you a happy boost:)

I really can not say I have not tried to wash my daughters. But you may try putting it in a bra garment sack and putting it on delicate cycle and pulling it out before the spin cycle. Then Line Dry.
Wish I could be more help.

I have put two of my daughter's webkinz through the wash a number of times. I usually put them in one of those washer bags though. As for the dryer, I don't put them in there. I usually let them air dry on top of the dryer for the day. I guess if your dryer has an air dry cycle you could use that.

I have not washed the webkinz yet but with past experience with stuffed animal furs I suggest NOT drying in the dryer. They come out of washer fine but the dryer can really mess up the fur. Good luck.

I always wash my daughters stuffed animals, I just put them in a pillow case, tie it, and wash. I have even sent them through the dryer, but you could let it air dry, if he can wait.

Hi R.,
Between our 7 yr. old daughter & twin 4 yr old boys we have 42 webkinz in our house :)
Let me assure you that almost all of them have gone through the washer atleast once if not 3 to 4 times and have come through unharmed!! They are tough little critters! I just put them in with a regular load and then right into the dryer as well...they get no special treatment :)

Hope this helps!

Renne,
I would say give it a try, I have washed stuff aminals before and actually dried them for a few minutes or more. If all fails, it will be learning lesson for your daughter. Sometimes we have to learn things the hard way. Give it a try

I have washed Webkinz many times on the normal cycle and delicate dryed them. Our Webkinz have been on many adventures and frequently are forced to walk on the dirty ground with a "leash" tied around the neck. I was unaware of the surface wash suggestion. Good Luck!

Yep, we had to wash "Hoppy" the frog. I didn't dry him. Just let him air dry. Don't know if that makes a difference.
