I have weaned baby from the breast, and down to pumping at 6 am and 6 pm. which one should i cut next, or does it matter?
Also, I am going to try cabbage leaves....and I heard a cold compress when i get engorged helps too.
Any suggestions?
I GOT SOME CABBAGE, I ACTUALLY CUT OUT THIS MORNINGS PUMP SESSION...AND DID IT AT 4, AND REALLY WASNT IN A LOT OF PAIN. i HAVE ALREADY BEEN CUTTING BACK ON AMOUNT I PUMP. I GUESS I WILL SEE TONIGHT IF I GET ENGORGED.
DID YOU WEAR THE LEAVES IN YOUR BRA, AT NIGHT OR DAILY? HOW LONG?
.
When I did this I cut down the time on one session at a time for a week. The week interval was probably overkill but I had few issues with pain mostly some uncomfortable moments. The schedule I had when I started was:
morning x 15 min
afternoon x 15 min
evening x 15 min
I started eliminating the afternoon session first. All reductions in time were at 5 minute intervals. So the next schedule was
morning x 15 min
afternoon x 10 min
evening x 15 min
I kept reducing the afternoon session until it was eliminated completely. I had a full week of
morning x 15 min
afternoon x 0 min
evening x 15 min
before I started reducing the morning sessions.
If there are any lumps or sore spots I massaged them while I was pumping (this was something I would do even while nursing him in the beginning) and that helped with easing uncomfortableness.
As for cutting morning or evening first I would go with morning - try to be as comfortable as possible when trying to sleep.
I don't think it really matters which one you stop first, and I'm sorry but I don't know anything about cabbage leaves, I just took a lot of hot showers, lol!
Maybe cut down your pumping TIME on both of them since you are trying to quit altogether, instead of just dropping the session. Gradually pump less and less until they dry up naturally. I fear if you drop 1 of the 2 sessions cold turkey, you could get engorged. I did the COLD cabbage leaves, replacing when wilted or warm, with my 2nd when I got sore but that lasted like a day because I had cut down so gradually it wasn't much of an issue.
Best wishes!
