Just curious of other people's experience with weaning and milk supply after. I had a huge milk supply and recently weaned my 20month slowly with no engorgement....up until now. one of breast always produced more and therefore still has some milk. it has been a little over a week and it is tender and i can squeeze small amounts of milk out. my question is: when will the milk be gone completley?? is this normal? and will my body just absorb the milk in time? i have heard placing cabbage leaves in your bra help to stop milk production, i am seconds away from making a trip to the market. thanks for the input...

What can I do next?

Hello Eliazabeth,
I just weaned my 2 year old son two weeks ago. I had lots of issues with engorgement and discomfort. I tried the cabbage leaves, that just made me want to take a shower. I bought a sports bra and wore it all the time. I was dealing with those issues for about 10 days, the first five days were the worst but it gets better quickly. I am two weeks out and fell back to normal. Good luck.

I weaned my daughter at 27 mos (in September) and still have milk from time to time. Never engorged, never leaks on my clothes, but sometimes in the shower when the water's really warm. A friend of mine told me it takes 6-8 months... so I am thinking any time now :) I haven't been concerned enough to ask my doctor.

I haven't nursed for two years and I still can get a small amount of milk out of my left side. I guess it's just going to stay there.

My friend never produced enough milk but still breastfed and supplemented. She weaned her son 4 YEARS ago, and she still has a little milk.
