Interlachen Pediatrics - Dr. Middleton
My kids have seen him since they were born. Would highly recommend any of the Dr.s there.
We have been going to a pediatrician that's 20+ miles away for the past four and half years. They have changed some of their office staff and are pretty booked whenever we need an appointment. I'm looking for a new pediatrician in the Oviedo area that will listen to Mom and Dad's concerns and have, if by chance, before office hours if the children wake up sick. Please let me know if you have a wonderful one that you can suggust to us. Thank you!

I have been happy with Interlachen Pediatrics since my daughter was born over 12 years ago. She sees Dr. Samuel Smith and he is great with her. He always takes time to talk to her/listen to her as well as to listen to any concerns I have. He shares his parenting experiences as well as offering medical opinions. I've always felt like I can have a conversation with him and that I am not pressured to follow his advice, although I trust him and am comfortable with the care we have received. When we have seen other doctors in the office, it has been a good experience and I think there is good documentation in the chart to enable continuity of care. Good luck in your search.
I met with Interlachen when I was pregnant and they made it clear that they expect parents to follow their policies and guidelines when it comes to the care of the child. Parents who don't obey their rules on vaccinations, medications, etc are not welcomed there and they actually told me if I had questions or concerns I should find a new practice. So I did.

She is right off the 408E on Alafaya Trail, so not too far to drive from Oveido in my opinion. She is wonderful and supportive and listens to parents. She is great about educating parents and advocating for her views, but respecting a parents decision. I have never had a problem getting a same day appointment and the office is often willing to call in prescriptions for basic issues. The office staff is exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable as well.
I really had a lot of trepidation in finding a doctor who wouldn't push antibiotics, vaccines, etc and would support breastfeeding. I met with numerous pediatricians while I was pregnant. Dr.Q is so wonderful that even my husband likes her and he can't stand doctors. My son is now almost 2.5 years old and I would never take him anywhere else. I truly trust her input and judgment because she respects mine.

We've been going to Interlachen Pediatrics on Broadway since my 7 year old was born. They are great. It's very easy to get an appointment. They also have a "sick hour" first thing every morning, 8 - 9 I believe. You can just bring your child in with no appointment. All of the doctors that we have seen are really nice and willing to talk with you. Here is their website: http://intpeds.com/
We use Dr. Fisk in Oviedo (426 and Winter Springs Blvd). All the doctors that we've seen in the office have been super. Nice, considerate, listen and ask questions. They also have walk in hour M-F from 8-9a.

I highly recommend Interlachen Pediatrics. They are in Oviedo and have early sick hours, plus evening hours and weekends too. We love Dr. Fisk (especially if you are on the conservative side). My sister absolutley adores Dr. Middleton. They have 11 doctors and I have seen several of them for the emergency hours and have had excellent experiences.

I didn't like Interlachen at all!!! Too impersonal. I agree it's easy to get an appointment but that's because you don't see the same doctor. Each doctor has a shift of having to work on walk-ins. Everytime you see a doctor, you have to start all over again and they don't get to know you, your kids, or family.
I take my kids to Dr. Thomas Lacy ###-###-####). Its a great little office and they have walk-in hours every weekday from 7:30-9 and some Saturday hours as well. But they have also been very accomodating when I call and feel either of my kids need to be seen quickly. I have 2 kids and Dr. Lacy always remembers to take that into consideration when I'm there with one kid and makes sure that I know what I need to do to make sure the other one stays healthy -- I don't even have to remind/ask him. He also used to work for Interlachen but left to open his own practice (I talked to him about this during my interview and was very satisfied with his answer).
Dr. Elias also works in the same office. There have been occasions that Dr. Lacy has not been available, so we have seen her and that was helpful.
Their office is on Orpington, close to the intersection of Alafaya and Colonial. So its not in Oviedo, but not too far and worth the extra 5-10 minute drive.
I love Interlachen!
We usually see Dr. Holsen but have also met with Dr. Aguilar, Dr. Smith, and Dr. Ward as well as the NP Sandy a few times. My 10 month old has pretty bad asthma and has had a variety of other illnesses this fall so we are there a lot. We can always get an appointment (sometimes we have to go to the Maitland office to get in that day but we live in Winter Springs so we are pretty much between both offices)
Everyone has always been so supportive of any and all my questions. They were really supportive of breastfeeding and helped me through it to keep at it as long as I wanted. The Dr.s I saw while BFing both had a breast is best mentality.
I like that there are a few different Doctors there because of all the issues my daughter has had and she obviously can't tell me how she is feeling it has been great to meet with a variety of doctors to get their opinions. They have all been awesome I reallly enjoyed meeting Dr. Ward at our last visit she knew all about my daughter when she came into the room and then asked me to tell her what was going on so she could have my opnion in addition to what the dr's and nurses had written in my daughters chart. She asked me a million questions so I really felt like she cared and had a firm grasp on my daughters situation before she even started the exam.
My daughter has had stranger anxiety since she was very small and they are sooo accomodating there. I can't say enough good things about IP! The office staff is always smiling and making a big deal out of all the kids that enter there the nurses are wonderful as well as the lab techs, cath people, blood work nurses, etc. I think I have met almost everyone that works in both offices!
Good luck with this tough decision.
For the past year I have been taking my 4 to Dr. Weist on Red Bug in Oviedo. Its a one Dr. office which I love, with great hours, I can always get in, even on the day when I call. I have never had to wait more then 10 minutes in the waiting room, which I love!!! They don't have weekend hours though. The website for them is www.paof.com and click on oviedo then pediatrics and you can see the hours. Its been great for us! Best of luck.
Alot of my friends use Interlachen Pediatrics which is right here in Oviedo also, they are a group of Doctors. And they have a morning walk in hour.
Interlachen Pediatrics Dr Trout. What an amazing facility... we love it there!
