I'm so sick of shaving so I decided that I want to wax my legs. I'm wondering what the best home wax kit is?

I used to always go and get my upper lip waxed. I eventually got tired of paying money to have it done in a salon, but thought the salon brand of wax was really effective. I couldn't find it in stores though. So while the salon person was off getting something, I grabbed the jar of wax and wrote down the brand name and company phone number. I've been using it at home now for years.

The brand is L'Eily (sold by Cold Wax Co.). Possibly it's sold in a store now - otherwise you can call them up to order directly. I think it's really great, and it's easy to warm up (just a quick zap in the microwave).

I second the Braun epilator...I tried waxing at home and ended up frustrated and messy! The epilator takes a little while to get used to, (a little painful at first, but no more than waxing) but after a little while it's quick and easy and lasts for weeks. It's also true that the hair grows back thinner and finer. I've tried other brands than Braun which were cheaper, but they didn't work well. I would definately consider this one. I absolutely love mine!!

Hello,
I know your question is about waxing, but i have a great product that i think works better then waxing. It is a little painful, but then again so is waxing. i use the braun silk epilator and i love it. the hair doesnt grow back for weeks and when it does grow back, it is so fine. i bought it for 50 dollars at bed bath and beyond, but here is a link.

Hi T.,

Go to Sally's and buy a wax warmer and pot of wax by Gigi. I believe they sell it in a kit for maybe $20.00 or so. I've had mine for over a year and am still using the first pot of wax that came with it. You also have to buy a package of sticks for application and the fabric for removal but the total cost still isn't as much as getting your legs done at a salon. This way you can use it on your brows, lip, legs, wherever. I didn't have any luck with strips with the wax already applied or with Nads, it was too gooey.

Hope this helps!

As a past waxer prepare the area you will wax first. I suggest laying a plastic table cloth or drop cloth. I got the wax all over the kitchen every time I waxed. I did not use the bathroom because it was a wood floor. I have tried both hot and cold. Hot (warm) wax opens the pores and makes it less painful. I did like one brand that came with strips of cloth to remove it. Sorry I do ot remember the brand.

Not feeling the need to shave and wax is great.

I like MOOM kits, typically found in most health food stores. Also, since you need to let the hair grow a bit for the wax to work properly, it might be easier to start waxing in the fall/winter when you're not concerned about showing leg hair (since you're most likely not wearing shorts or tank tops in public in the winter!! :) ). By the time the weather becomes warm again, you will have gone through a few waxing/growth cycles and probably will have noticed a decrease in the amount of hair to be removed.

I use MOOM. It's my favorite because it doesn't have any awful chemicals or anything like that, and it cleans up with water. I would love laser treatment, but I cannot afford that luxury at this point in my life. Hope that helps.

I was always a big fan of Nads (you can get it at target or walmart in addition to online). It turned out to be the easiest to clean up (just soap and water) and I loved that the strips were washable and reusable. I use it all the time when I'm not huge and pregnant (it's just to awkward with my big belly! any suggestions for hair removal while huge????) I tried just about every product out there. The premade wax strips sound great but I really found them to be useless. They just didn't seem to do the job. Nair makes a roll on wax kit but that was just a huge mess that didn't work very well.

Oh and if it works out for you waxing can be great! Just stick with it because it may be a pain at first, but after a few times, the hair starts getting lighter and sparser and I even found that when I got lazy and didn't feel like waxing for a while I could get away with it more because the hair wasn't nearly as noticable as when I skipped shaving. Good luck!
