Waterparks: Key Lime Cove or Timber Ridge?

We'd like to take our boys age 3 and 5 to a nearby waterpark soon. We've done the Dells and don't want to go that far for this one night trip to celebrate 3 year old's birthday.
Would you do Key Lime Cove or Timber Ridge in Lake Geneva? I've priced them out and there is a $30 difference, with Key Lime Cove being more expensive.

Thanks for your input!

My family has been to KLC twice, once this past year, and we loved it. The kids liked the water park and LOVED the arcade. We we in the suite so the bedrooms were seperate. The food was fine. I was at TRL along time ago, without kids, so I cannot comment too much on it. Either one, you will have a blast. HAVE FUN!!!

My family and I just went to Key Lime Cove and I wouldn't recommend it. The rooms are very small and are in no, way, shape or form "kid friendly." Also, the guests are quite ghetto. I witnessed security arguing with some guests in the lobby in front of my kids. The waterpark is sectioned off perfectly and there are plenty of tables. The lines for refreshments are very long. The food is just okay.

I have never been to Timber Ridge.

The waterpark that I enjoy the most is Blue Harbor in Sheboygan, WI. It is not as far as the Dells. The rooms are awesome with a separate sleeping area for the kids. The waterpark is also great and at night they have story time with milk and cookies on the grand staircase in the lobby. My kids love this waterpark.

Hope this helps!!!

We have gone to Timber Ridge every year since my son was 7 months old. We already have our spring Break trip booked for 2 nights at Timber Ridge. My son is 3 now and my daughter is 17 months. I find that TR is VERY age appropriate for our age kids. We are actually taken friends with us this time who we have been raving about TR too for the last three years. They just had a baby this year, so they will be joining us with their 9 month old. I have never been to Key Lime Cove but my understanding is that while it is larger and has a better variety of waterslides, etc. It is meant more for the older child/swimmer. Plus in Lake Geneva, there are a ton of other things to do that you cannot do in Gurnee. Good Luck.

I have been to both and I personally like Key Lime Cove better. I haven't been to TR in a long time, so I am not sure if it has change, but I think KLC is bigger, more stuff to play on. My husband and I just took our girls(7 and 2) there a few weeks ago and we had a blast.

Have never been to Key Lime Cove. Timber Ridge rocks. Good-sized "suites" with stove, fridge, and plates and cookware, etc. We always bring out own food, although we can still eat out for a couple of the meals. There are kid-friendly activities and an arcade. It's also right next to a mini-farm and petting zoo where our kids always go on pony rides. I think it's worth it to drive the extra 30 or 40 minutes to be in the country.

We've done different places at the Dells the past two years, this time we did Key Lime Cove this past weekend and I was not at all impressed. Apparently others are as the place was very crowded!! There were not enough staff for the crowd as lines were long for check in as well as for the overpriced and not very good food. The price tag was a lot higher than the places we went in the Dells and it was a lot more congested (thankfully we were using a gift card). Granted we were spoiled in the Dells going on weekdays early in the week and there were times we had the ENTIRE waterpark and arcades to ourselves or with few others for the one time and the other time it was a weekend but the crowds were managable. But Key Lime Cove just seemed not very organized at all for handling the crowds. I know nothing about Timber Ridge in Lake Geneva, though I think doing it again it would be worth the drive to the Dells over Key Lime Cove in my opinion.

Check out Blue Harbor in Sheboygan...only half hour or so past Great America. It is gorgeous and perfect for families with younger kiddos. My girls were 2 and 4 when we went last year and we loved it. Can't wait to go back.

We went to Timber Ridge with our two kids last year (ages 3 and 1) and we loved it. I liked the different activities for the kids, aside from just the water park. They have a game room, crafts and when we were there there was a bedtime story for the kids with cookies and milk.

I liked that all the rooms at Timber Ridge have a seperate bedroom area and a full kitchen. We were able to pack food for lunch and save some money in the process.

I haven't been to Key Lime Cove, so I cannot compare. I have heard differing reviews on it - some people I know loved it, others, not so much.

I'm sure either way your kids will have a blast!

We just got back from Key Lime Cove and we love it there! My parents have decided to take the grandkids to a water park every year. We have only been to the waterpark in Lake Geneva once and it was about 2 years ago, however, when we did go my daughter then 2 years old got rotavirus there (contracted through feces in the pool the doctor thinks) and was so ill she had to be hospitalized..not sure if it was a coincidence or not but we decided to stay away nonetheless.

Key Lime Cove is very busy on the weekends and less busy on the weekdays. During the weekdays there are less activities and only one of the restaurants is open. I thought the room rates were pretty comparable and the facility is always clean and the staff is very friendly. Good Luck!

We just took our boys ages 3 and 5 to Key Lime Cove and had a blast. Check in took a while but we did get in early and went to the pool for a few hours. For dinner, we went out to Timothy O'Toole's. At the hotel, there is a refrigerator if you want to bring drinks and food. THis was our first visit and we plan to go back again in the Fall.
