I lived in apartments for years which always have hard water! Now I own my own home with a water softener and I can't believe the difference it makes in how clean my dishes are.
Apparently we have really hard water and that's why my new dishwasher isn't getting my bottles clean. It keeps leaving little bits of stuff blown up inside of them that wasn't there when I put them in it. Does anyone have any suggestions or warnings as far as what to buy? I see those Commers commercials all the time, does anyone have one of those? How much are they and are they good? I have no experience on this subject at all and I know every company will have "the best out there".
Thanks much,
J.

I work at Commers Water. I work in the customer service department. What we do here at Commers is a little differant than what "other" companies do. We find the right softener for your family, your city, the hardness of the water, etc. When you buy from Fleet Farm, Menards, or any other store bought brand, they are already preset, so you may end up getting some hard water. We make sure that you are satisfied with your purchase by giving you warranties, free salt w/ purchase, etc. Commers water softeners are built to last. They will last you 15-20 years. All tanks are gaurenteed for a lifetime for the original owner. If you ever have aproblem with the softener, we will gladly help you over the phone (to save YOU money) and if we can't fix it over the phone, we will send out a knowlagable technition to fix it. And our service calls come with a 90 day warranty. If you need us to come back out within those 90 days, then you DON'T have to pay for us to come back!
If you have ANY questions at all, pleas feel free to contact me directly at my email: ____@____.com
I will not sell you a water softener, but simply help you determaine if Commers Water Softener is what you want. The choice is all up the the consumer-YOU.
Good Luck in your search, and I hope I could have been some assistance to you.

CULLIGAN!!!! I love my Culligan water softner!
We got ours at Menard's and it's a mortan system saver. I think it's around 3-$400. It doesn't leave that white residue on the glasses like we used to get. We are a family of 4 and it works for us.
We just got a new one at Sears. It was about $500 for our unit. Sears sells different softeners based on where you live (water hardness) and how many people are in your household. If you have well water you can bring a sample and they'll test it for hardness. With city water, they know what you've got. We installed ours ourselves, but they'll do it for you. We looked at Kinetico, but it's a couple grand for one of those systems. Good luck.
My husband sells plumbing fixtures and says that Turbo Soft is the best product, made by a company called Cuno. Hope this helps.
We recently bought a new home that didn't come with a water softener and have not yet gotten one because we to have no clue what to buy. So in the mean time I bought a product at Walmart called Lemi-shine..or something like that... its with the dish washer stuff in a green and yellow bottle. Anyways it works great no spots and shinny dishes. Just to hold you over!
We have a kinetico non electric watersoftener and we really like the change in the water quality. D.
Hi J.,
As a mother of ten who has dealt with lots of different poor water quality issues in our different homes....I'll just give you a website to go to and let you decide if the wholehouse water purification system - the Spring House - described in it would not solve a lot of problems beyond just your dishwasher's needs...for drinking/cooking/bathing in, etc.
Go to http://www.yourwaterknowledge.com/aawp I've used the kitchen countertop water purifiers and the showerheads. We live in a parsonage so will get a wholehouse water purifying system some day when we, Lord willing, own our own home. But I sure like what I use.
