*Edit* How do you clean a straw and know for sure that it is absolutely clean if you can't get a brush into it to scrub it? I'm leery of getting a bottle with a straw. But besides that, I'm enjoying researching all your recommendations. Many thanks, y'all! :)
Hi helpful mamas :) I was wondering about something. I've been re-using bottles from Vitamin Water or SoBe Lifewater to refill with my Brita filtered water to drink at work. I've had peple tell me that that's not safe to do because the bottles aren't meant to be re-used, so I could be getting some bad chemicals with my water. Do any of you have a favorite water bottle that is easy to clean, doesn't spill and is safe for reuse? I was looking at this one but some revies say that it can't be completely cleaned http://www.amazon.com/Contigo-AUTOSEAL-Water-Bottle-Ounce... I'd just like to find a bottle that I can thouroughly clean, and I'd only use it for water. Many thanks for your recommendations... *Peace*!

I agree with Beanie's Mom I love Klean Kanteen bottles. I have a large one that is insulated and it keeps my water very cold even in the summer when I'm outside for long periods of time. I typically use it for water but it works for hot tea too. They have a few different lid options to choose from depending on what you like.

My daughter & I use Klean Kanteens. They are sturdy, safe (Environmental Working Group approved), easy to clean, spill-proof, have interchangeable tops/spouts & come in different colors. I wouldn't reuse plastic SoBe/Vitamin Water bottles (or any plastic bottles); over time, some of the chemicals used to make the plastic leach into the fluid inside the bottle. (Yuk!)

**There is such a thing as a straw brush. Which is made to clean straws. Just Google search it. I have one.

I've gotten BPA free water bottles from my local CVS store.
I think its like those rubbermaid brands.

Or, get an insulated double walled lidded cup. It has its own straw. These are typically BPA free too, and keeps cold, and doesn't perspire on the outside. Many stores have it, like Barnes and Noble, Starbucks etc.

I always put straws in the dishwasher when I had a dishwasher. Clear straws, sanitizing cycle. WITHOUT a dishwasher... pipe cleaners are good for more than just arts and crafts. My favorite are the zebra striped ones.

Tervis tumblers with a lid. They can hold hot or cold drinks and are dishwasher safe!

I love my Camelbaks with straws. The straws really help me drink more water than other types of lids/spouts. I've been using them for years. There are 4 parts that easily come apart and get clean in the dishwasher. I buy them on Amazon or at Target.
