Washing Machine Creating Stains on Clothes

We have a high efficiency washing machine for about three years. Recently, I have noticed that when I wash light colors some (not all) of the clothes in the machine, most times, leaves brown marks on my clothes. I do not know how to stop the stains from happening nor do I know how to remove the stains once they happen. If any of you can share some insight into what may be causing the problem I would greatly appreciate it. Please help, a lot of good clothes are being stained??????

Mine did this and I found out it was a problem with the machines transmission it was leaking oil. Not a lot you can do but repair or replace the machine. The oil stains are hard to get out if not impossible. Have you called a repair service?

I am not sure if you can do this with high efficiency washers, but have you tried running a cycle with vinegar? I would probably call an appliance repair shop they could probably come out and take a look to see what the problem is if the vinegar does not work.

Do you ever leave wet clothes in the washer? I could be that the washer barrel has a small amount of rust in places that is transfering to your clothes. Just a thought.

That happened to us. Look up your brand on line. We found out it was a factory defect.

If you use any of the Downy "balls" or other dispensers you drop in the washer, you are probably seeing rust. Check the inside of the machine and see if there's any pieces of the paint coating that's missing to confirm this is the issue. The only thing I've been able to do is make sure I don't leave my clothes in the washer for too long. A remedy I've read for rust stain removals is to squeeze fresh lemon juice on the stain and let it sit in the sun...but I've never tried this myself.

Another issue we've had is the lining of the drum of the dryer came loose and the clothes would come out with streaks on them, not spots. So if you're seeing streaks instead of small dots, this is something to consider.

It's probably rust. See if you can find the chipped spot and paint it with Rustoleum (get it at Home Depot or Lowes).

Run one cup of white vinegar through a cyle of your machine, that should clean it.

The stains on the clothes, try pre treating with spray n wash and run them through after you clean your machine.
