I hate synthetic fabrics so we have a lot of 100% cotton stuff. I wash it all usually warm/cold & tumble dry Medium. You might want to hang it (inside out) to dry about 90% then fluff, depending on the dress.
I know cotton shrinks so I have to wash it in cold water.
But, this dress is my daughter's new ultra favorite and just now I realize it has a label that say 100% cotton and no washing instructions whatsoever...
How do I wash this?? Do I have to wash it by hand in cold water??

Wash cold/cold, inside out, hang dry. You can't go wrong w/ this.
I wash on cold/cold and then tumble try on extra low for about 15 minutes with a dryer sheet to get most of the wrinkles out and soften it a bit. Then I line dry after removing from the dryer. Makes ironing easier and the clothes less "crunchy."
I would wash it on a permanent press cycle (warm/cold) and then line dry. When in doubt, LINE DRY! Just don't use hot water and you should be ok.
I wash 100% cotton in warm water and dry it normally. If it shrinks it's not much. Plus it has to be ironed...use a light starch like sizing or the one with the gold cap. It is not too stiff.
If the dress is tight and cannot shrink a bit then by all means hand wash and hang to dry. But the ironing will be way more difficult. Plus it will be scratchy. The dryer will soften the fibers where it will feel good against the skin and it will be easier to iron the wrinkles out.
I would wash it in cold water (wash and rinse) and then hang it to dry (you will probably have to iron it anyway).
I wash all my clothes in cold/cold with All detergent and oxyclean. I also put vinegar in the rinse cycle. To reduce wrinkles, lower your spin cycle to medium instead of high. Dry in the dryer on low with a dryer sheet.
