1st one born 2.5 weeks early and the 2nd was 3 days late and born on JUne 19th, Father's Day that year!
I know no one can tell me this for sure, but my due date is June 19th. I MUST schedule a business meeting/class for my husband to teach. I generally help at these events. I wanted to have the event mid may but the hotel we usually use has NO rooms available. I could schedule it the first weekend in June (4th and 5th) but I would potentially cutting it close if I went into labor early. I could also get the dates I want but I would have to use a totally new hotel with a totally new Audio Video team, etc. These events are really important to us financially and I am a friad of using someone new in case they screw up!! I am less active now than I was my last pregnancy and this is my 2nd baby. Any suggestions??? If I dont make the event, that can be okay, but my husband really must be there as people fly in to them!
Wow, fast responses!! I guess I should have specified if you were a "natural birth" was your second early or late, etc. You don't know what would have happened if you weren't induced in some way so I can't really go by those answers. I had my first daughter 1 day before my due date (No induction).
We found a really great NEW hotel for the mid may event. It may turn out to be a blessing in disguise because I think I am going to start using this hotel INSTEAD of our regular hotel. I didnt want to schedule the event after the baby is born because I breast feed and it would make it difficult for me to work AND breastfeed. Plus the baby could be REALLY late and we could still run into scheduling conflicts. And after talking with my midwife, they can't really tell you when you'll have the baby because that's up to the baby and there is a 5 week window!! (37-42 is considered fullterm). So it turned out okay and now I am weeks away from being due.
I really didn't want to risk sending my husband to work in June because HE may miss the birth too.

Babies arrive when they arrive. That's the only definitive answer I can give you.
My first baby was two days before her due date and my second baby was two days after his.
Make a reservation. I'd do it earlier. But that's just me. Cutting it too close, you might not feel up to it anyway.
Best wishes!
My first was 4 weeks early - but had severe pre-E
My second was born 3 weeks early - induced b/c of severe pelvic pressure
My third was 1 week early
I was induced with all three - My first labor was 18 hours, 2nd labor only 5 1/2 hours and so by the third they thought baby would just come right out. Ha Ha.. nope! She took 12 hours.
My point being you just never know with the little ones how quickly they want to come out. and when they want to come.
Congrats on baby!
Both of my kids were late. The first was 9 days late, the second was 7 days late. Good luck and congratulations!!
My first was 3 weeks early. My second I was induced on her due date because of her size. If they had not induced I am pretty sure she would have been weeks late!!!!!!She just very laid back, even now.
both of mine according to the docs were 3 weeks early according to me on time
My first was on my due date, my second was one day before, my third was 5 days before. With my 4th my water broke at 38 weeks, totally blind sided me, came out of the blue, I was not having any contractions or anything. None of my labors were induced.
My SIL had her first two (sons) one week early, and her third (daughter) one week late. She was so expecting the third baby to come one week early like her first two, it made the wait unbearable, she was getting so impatient waiting for her daughter.
You never can know for sure, but many people deliver at a similar time with each pregnancy, and you are statistically more likely to deliver a little sooner rather than later with subsequent pregnancies. Of course these are broad generalities, everyone has their own story, and you can't predict what yours will be. Even if you schedule an induction, that obviously doesn't rule out the possibility of labor starting on its own before that.
Can you ask around in your business circle for any hotel recommendations? If someone you know has had a good experience with a particular hotel/AV staff, maybe you would feel more comfortable trying them.
I would say that if your first was born on or after your due date, two weeks before would be fairly safe timing. On the other hand if your first came spontaneously at 39 weeks, I would be much more leery of scheduling something for 38 weeks.
Best of luck to you!
Hello! I had my first son 1 day early. Then had my second son almost a month early. Starting at about 30 weeks, I was measuring 3 weeks farther along than I was. My son was born when my belly was measuring 40 weeks. He was big too...8 lbs 3.5 oz.
There is no way to know for sure unless you schedule an induction, c-section, etc.
Good luck!

My first was 2 weeks early and my second was a week early and i'm pregnant with my 3rd. I think mine came when they did because i went into labor a day after the dr stripped my membranes.
My first was 4 days late (induced for pre-eclampsia) the second came naturally a week late. I have to say I always work up till my due date and give a big test on my due date and kids do not arrive until the tests are graded--my teacher friends say the same thing--the kids seem to know when mom has taken care of her business and can join the family!
My 2nd was later, and I wound up inducing her. I got tired of waiting at 39 weeks, 4 days. :)
I have no idea when she would've come on her own.
I delivered my 1st at 38.5 weeks.
My first was 5 weeks early and my second was 3 weeks early.
My 2nd was a week late, induced and c-section. First was born on her due date vaginally.
My mom had me 15 days late and had my sister 5 days late (in 1978 and 1981, respectively).
My mother in law was all over the map (had 5 kids) and range was up to 2 weeks early to 2 weeks late.
Good luck! Tough stuff to deal with, I know. Maybe talk to your OB -- my OB offered to induce me with #2 if I was dilated at all up to 1 week BEFORE my due date (for my convenience) -- however, I wasn't at all. If you dilated/effaced before your due date with #1 you likely would with #2 as well. At least that is how it worked for all my friends who have had 2+.
Both of mine (4 years apart) were 3 weeks early! To be safe, and ensure your hubby can be with you, I would stick to the mid-May date at the new hotel. Good luck!
Both of mine were exactly three weeks early. The first by induction (bp trouble) and the second a repeat c-section.
Can you do the event after you're due date by say 2 weeks? Then I'd say you can safely bet that you'll have had the baby.
That being said-my second was three weeks early.
I had baby # 1 at 39 weeks 1 day, and baby # 2 at 39 weeks 5 days.
My first a week early, my second a week late, my third on due date, my fourth a week early. In other words, ya just never know!
Usually with the second baby your labor is faster. Play it safe and just stay home. Send hubby to usual hotel and have a good friend video tape it if you like. There can be complication unseen with every pregnancy. For example, with my first i had to have a c-section cause my hips were too narrow and thats when we found out her placenta was partially fusing to the uterus and i was VERY VERY close to bleeding out and havign a radical hysterectomy. There was nothing on the ultrasounds to indicate that was what was happening.
My second daughter had to be c-section cause of first born's risks. I just KNEW my 2nd was going to be early. I tripped and fell at 35wks and was lucky to stop the early labor for another week to give her lungs more time. Still it was a bit early and she had to be in the NICU for awhile. She also had her cord wrapped around her neck a couple of times. There is a reason doctors say to stay home the last weeks cause of complications that can come. Like STRESS, FALLING, baby in distress. Just stay home and rest.
Both of my babies were born early, (prior to the due date). My first child was 4 weeks early and my second child was just short of 4 weeks early. Babies come when they are ready, not when you are ready for them LOL.
My first was 2 1/2 weeks late & had to be induced. My second was 2 full weeks late and I had to have a c-section due to some cervical issues unrelated to the pregnancy, but I never did go into labor on my own with either one.
Can you hold the even earlier in May, by maybe a week or 2 of when they are already booked?
Can't tell you what you should do, only you and your doctor can answer that. But here's what I can tell you:
I was induced with both my pregnancies, my son at 38 weeks because of health problems (he still weighed a whopping 9lbs) and my daughter at 39 weeks (she ended up only being 7lbs, less pregnancy-related health problems) but I was much more active in the second pregnancy. My only regret is that induced labor is horrible!
If you are really concerned about early labor I would stay home and take it easy, you'll probably be ok. Your dr can also do a test to see the likelihood of going into labor in the next so many days etc. as it gets closer you could try that. Otherwise you could try out the new hotel scenario? Good luck!
Personally, I'd go with mid-May, even though it's more complicated. You just can't predict. Everyone's situation is different. I went way overdue with our first (week and a half) and had our second three days early. I would go with the safest date for the business event, knowing June is your prime target time frame for delivery.
