I am looking into getting my tubes tied and wanted to hear from anyone that has had this type of procedure done. My OB doc does the tubal cauterization where he cauterizes the tubes. What i would like to know is how you healed, how long it took, what exactly do they do, etc. anything you can tell me would be great. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I had my tubal a day after my son was born (he might have been a C-section, so it was planned for that time originally). I felt about the same after that as I would have from a normal V-birth. My recovery time was not increased and I loved the results- never had a problem.

I had my tubes "tied" after my youngest one was born. It was done on a Friday and by Sunday I was feeling pretty much back to myself but a bit wiped out. Monday came and it was business as usual. What I remember was that it felt as if I had done about a thousand situps. I took naps that weekend. I didn't/haven't had any long term effects from the tubal. It was a little sad knowing I wouldn't have any more children but it was also a little freeing knowing that I could be intimate with my husband and not worry about getting pregnant. Good luck!

Mine was done during my C-section, but I didn't notice anything different than my other 3 C-sections. Sorry I can't be of help for an independent procedure, but internally, at least, I can tell you I noticed NOTHING.

I had it done a day after my 4th was born. There was some discomfort around the incision in my belly button but not a big deal. It lasted for about a week and the it was like all the pain was gone. If you are sure you are done having kids then I definitly would recommend it.

i did it when my youngest was 6 months old. i felt gassy and off for up to a month, but the worst was over in a week easily. if you are sure you are done, then it is a great option.

Hello K.,

I did it when my 2nd was about 9 months old and that was 6 1/2 years ago. I don't remember any difference than w/ my 2 c-sections...well, it was easier than the 2 sections but I had to be more careful not to over-do it because there wasn't a big inscition that would hurt if I lifted something too heavy... Good luck! ~C.~

I had my tubes done with my second C-section. There was not really an added pain on discomfort from the C-section...if you are sure you are done having kids I would definatly recommend it. Good luck!
