Want to Start Planning "No Kids" Vacation, Don't Know Where to Start!

The last 2 summer we took a family beach trip. WHile they were both great, for the most part it was not very enjoyable at times for me. Last summer the youngest was about 9 months. He ate sand constantly, hated the ocean and got diarrhea from eating the sand lol The then 3 year old was still in a very rough patch of throwing temper tantrums quite a bit and causing scenes at certain times. So it was hard. ....but fun :)
This summer, the baby did much better at the beach and they both enjoyed it. But we couldn't take the youngest ANYWHERE. He hates sitting in a high chair, in the car, in the cart etc. After the 1st dinner out, I was done eating out for the whole trip. And he screamed a majority of the 12 hour trip home. We rented a house and naturally I spent a big part of the time cooking, cleaning picking up all the messes etc..... I totally get that this is how it is when you have small ones. But I also feel that a no kid trip is in my future lol SInce our 4 year old has been born we haven't spent more then one night away from the kids. And I am SOOOOO ready!!!!!
I'd like to plan a 3 night get away w/ my husband. I'd LOVE LOVE a warm climate while it's still cold here. Where to start? I've always wanted to go the Bahamas, Cancun, Jamaica etc.... But try to not spend a fortune so that we can still have our family "vacation" I look on expedia and travelocity. There are soo many choices Im overwhelmed. I want a package that definitely includes air fare. An all inclusive resort would be GREAT. I'm thinking we'll try going in March, but Im unsure of weather those times of year...
Any experiences w/ Cancun? Or the Bahamas?? I noticed there are MANY areas to choose from!
Thanks in advance :)

What can I do next?

google all inclusive resorts then choose a location:

Bermuda
Puerto Rico
St Lucia
Cancun

St Lucia is WONDERFUL!!!
Cancun is WONDERFUL!!!

I've not been to Puerto Rico - but I've had friends that have LOVED it and we are thinking about going next year.

My husband and his first wife went to Jamaica for their honeymoon. They liked it.

Call a travel agent. They can work with you to get great deals and help you choose a location!!

HAVE FUN!!!

Believe it or not, I would say talk to a good old fashioned travel agent. I know nobody does it anymore, why should we when we have the internet, but exactly what you said is so true!!! There's a huge amount of info. Obviously if money was no object, you could just do one of those pricey resorts like Beaches or Sandals or whatever. But when you're trying to be economical...it's tough.

We have been too tight on money to be able to do anything like this but I would say check with a travel agent.

Good luck!!! DON"T FEEL GUILTY!!! A happy mom and dad, in a great healthy relationship have happier kids!!!

I have only gone to cancun with my hubbers. We would go in January/February and it was always rainy for 1/2 of the trip. I'd recommend the end of February.
My brother and his wife went to Isla Mujeras and said it was INCREDIBLE! They went in March.
I really like the all inclusive nature of resorts because on vacation all I want is a cool drink, water and sand:) Save up for a few spa services and in Cancun we also got to do some fun things like a zipline tour, swim with the dolphins at the aquarium and go to their national park (it is a reef to snorkel in!)
have fun

I went to Riviera Maya a few years ago (just south of Cancun), all inclusive. Loved it. We booked through Apple vacations online and everything was perfect. We picked it because the price was affordable for everyone (went with a group of 10 adults). Good luck!

You might want to book an adults only resort. If you mean to get away from your own kids, perhaps you want to make sure that you don't have to pay good money to have your vacation spent with other people's tantruming bundles of joy.

cheapcarribbean has some good deals too.
good luck to you and yours,

Oh I love adult only vacations! They are my favorite! Hubby and I have been to Napa and San Francisco, Mackinaw Island, New York City, London and Paris.

We have been to the Dominican Republic twice with the kids. Loved it! The flight was a little pricey but the hotel wasn't. Google "all inclusive adult only" and see what comes up. I believe Sandles has adult only places. Have fun!!!

We are looking for next year. Either France or Italy!

Since you only have three nights, I would go somewhere close in the US
to make the best of your time. There are some nice areas of Florida;

I actually love Key Largo. You would fly into Miami, and then it's about a 40 minute drive. Easier to get to, shorter plane ride, no passport required, and beautiful weather. We had 80 degrees and sun every day this past January when we were there. We stayed at a Marriott. It wasn't all inclusive though.

I also love Key West and it's definitely an adult atmosphere, but it's a little more difficult to get to (fly into Miami then a 4 hr drive or a very small plane from Miami to Key West).

I know many people love Cancun, but I wasn't a fan. Too touristy and dirty. My resort was nice (JW Marriott), but the city itself - not so much. I do like Cozumel though.

I'd start by looking at the package deals. Like on the home page of Expedia:
http://www.expedia.com/Vacation-Packages#tab-deals_item_1

Since probably you have a rough budget in mind for flight & hotel...start there.
