I have a large bag of used (although if they had tags you'd never know they're used) toys I would like to donate to a worthy cause (stuffed animals and baby dolls). I also have 2 infant play gyms to donate. I don't belong to a church and most places I've seen taking donations wamt new things. HELP!

We just sent some care packages to soldiers. On anysoldier.com there is a list of desired items. Surprisingly, they asked for beanie baby sized stuffed animals. The solierrs hand them out to children as they help the different villages overseas. You can get a box from the post office and stuff with goodies. You'll need to pay $11.95 for postage, regardless of the weight. It is a small price for their courage and bravery.

you can always sign up for www.freecycle.org and go to the westmont area. It's all about giving to your community. If you post a list of things you are offering, you can decide who you want to give what to. It's totally free and you wouldn't need to drive anywhere.

There's a food pantry in westmont that usually also has a table of other "stuff" (mostly clothes and toys) for people to take. (They recently got a bunch of books and let every kid that came in pick one.) I'm sure they would take your toys and make good use of them. Plus it's local. The name is People’s Resource Center, 649 Blackhawk Drive, Westmont. I don't know the drop-off hours, but they have a website. They are affiliated with PRC in Wheaton, so it's an organization for DuPage county residents in need.

I found a lady in Orland Park that takes gently used toys for donations. She was featured on the WGN morning News a few weeks back and I called and made an appointment for drop off. She has a website set up. www.toyboxconnection.com She is located on Southwest Hwy just south of 131st. No where near the mall and off of LaGrange so no headaches with traffic. She does not take stuffed animals of any kind but she will take baby dolls. It's amazing what she does and I think she is a great person to support.
