Want to Be Sure I'm Not Being Scamed

My 3 boys were recently asked to do a screen test for an upcoming tv show. I was unable to go and my husband said that my oldest was stiff and did very poorly. The company "Be" called back and said that he passed the screen test and that the director is flying in on Saturday and would like to meet with us about contracts. I can't find much about them on line and do not want to go and find that they want us to pay them to work with our child. I am not sure that I would want this life for him but he is excited. I would rather not take him if it is a Scam to make money. Have any of you had any experience with "Be" or "gonnabe"? They are out of Emeryville but are seeing us in Rancho Cordova. Are they legit?

What can I do next?

Hi J. - It might be legit and I understand your questions. My 14 Yr old daughter just went by a radio staion local booth last fall and was contacted by a "modeling agency" soon after. They requested she come for an interview and film several times. She is very active in competitive softball and could not make the dates they asked for. So The "agency" kept calling her back. Again and again - I think they were looking to earn picture fees and more.
Nope this helps,

I was told that any agency that asks for money, deposit, hold fee's or any sort of money up front in not a reputable place. Companies that are on the up n up will do alot of screening before hand. I would go ahead and meet with them, see what they say/offer but I would not put any $ down or sign any contract. If they want something signed I would say "we need to have our attorney look at it, I mean its for her future". If its not shady, then in my opinion they should have no problems.

When my son was younger I had taken him to something similar and when it comes down to it they are wanting you to get all this portfolio work done (which is going to cost alot of money) and other things that will require money. Take him and when they get down to business about what they can do for him blah...blah...blah.. and the money then you'll know for sure what it is really all about.

Usually it is a scam.

Where did you first hear of them, how did your children get the screen test in the first place? Have you ever heard of the tv show? You can always call the network to check on the show if it is a new one. Never had this problem, but I think I would go with my gut instinct especially if you ar not finding any info on them on the net. I have started being alot more careful, because my husband always says I am too gullible. Good luck, let us know how it runed out!
