Where in denver did he move? I may be able to help if the area is close to me :-)
I'm trying to do something really nice and surprise someone (who doesn't IN THE LEAST expect this,) but I need some help. This is really easy, and something that will make YOU feel really good.
And yes... there's a sweet story about the relationship here, but I'll give you those details later. (It's so heart warming that it was printed in a magazine!)
Here's the deal: Special person in my life just moved in Denver (near downtown,) and I want to send a housewarming basket to him. My problem is that I'm out of town for about another MONTH!
If you can do these 3 things, you could be my angel:
1. Open the box of goodies that I mail to you.
2. Buy a bottle of wine & a bag of sugar and add it to the package I mailed. (They're too heavy to mail. I'll send money for it.)
3. Drop the goodies off at his house (front porch, whatever.)
The package that I send will include this poem and these goodies:
Wine – that there will always be a reason to celebrate
Bread – that you may never go hungry
Coffee – that there will always be friends and families to share with
Salt – That there will always be a little spice in your life
Sugar – that sweetness touches even your worst days
Candle – That you may always find your way back home
So, if you can help me out with this, I would SO appreciate it! Please let me know today so I can get the ball rolling before he's in the new house too long. Moving day was Monday! You'd be creating really super dooper good karma for yourself! I look forward to hearing from you.
UPDATE: I think I have someone to help... will update this posting when the package arrives in Denver and gets delivered.
This is a "so what happened" like you've never read! The Denver Post heard about it, so you might see a story by Doug Brown about it next week.
Pictures and the details of what actually happened can be seen here:

Please look and leave comments if you'd like! (I've never used flickr before, so I want to see if it works.)
Carrie in Littleton TOTALLY made this happen, letting me ship the box to her, shopping for the other goodies & overcoming a few things to get the housewarming gift delivered. What a surprise to John, and how heart warming to everyone involved. Carrie, you ROCK! May all of God's blessings be upon you and your family. 800 miles apart, thanks bunches for the smiles that you brought to John and to me.
And by the way... since a few of you asked about the sweet story behind how John and I know each other, here's a link to the story about how we met in Dallas. If you ever wished you knew someone who would just "accept you how you are, sunless tanning lotion streaks and all," you gotta read this. This was written and printed in 2005: http://www.redmagonline.com/Web/index.php?option=com_cont...

It sounds like a wonderful idea. I would love to help, but wanted to inquire first where your friend lives. I'm a divorced mother of two as well ( 4 yr old and 6 yr old). I work full time and so evenings and weekends are all I have for running around. I didn't want to commit to something that ends up being on the other side of town if that makes any sense. If you are still looking for help, e-mail me your friend's address in Denver (at least city and zip) and I'll let you know if it is close enough for me to do for you.

Jill, I live in Denver as well, so I love this idea, and just might have to do this for my husband as well.
Let me know if I can help.
