It could be a disorder called Pica.
If this is a serious question, call your doctor, because your child could get lead poisoning, bowel obstructions and other problems from consistently eating not food things like this.
My daughter likes eating the wall. What do you think she needs? It is not good and I need to find an alternative. She wants something that is powdery and not too sweet. Something chalky. Any suggestions? I mean a calcium supplement?

gypsum wall board and chalk are one in the same. Yes I think you can get calcium out of it. If its not likely to stop and she won't eat Tums, then just buy her chalk to save your walls and to keep her from eating paint. If she needs calcium, you may want to jump on the green smoothie band wagon (blending leafy greens like kale and beet tops into fruit, rendering the greens tasteless). Or even start juicing greens to get her some mega doses of calcium in her food. Supplements are a very ineffective way to get nutrients. As well dairy products are a very inefficient way to get calcium (case in point: Americans have the highest rate of osteoporosis as well consume more dairy than any other nation). But obviously I'd take her to the Dr. to see if and how bad a deficiency exists.

Um, chalk? It comes in convenient packaging :)
I cannot think of any chalky food other than milk of magnesia.
"eating the wall"? you are going to have to elaborate......
sounds like Pica and can cause lead poisoning! Talk to your doctor!
I hope I don't offend the author of this post, but I find it hilarious. You must print this out and add it to your daughter's scrapbook.
