Ok My son has been taking steps more and more day by day BUT only when you "coax" him. As in Aiden go get sissy or Come to momma, But he wont just take off on his on so to speak. YOu have to ask him to come here. He does great got up to ten steps in one stretch. So here is my question, Why wont he take off without being coaxed? He will run damn near hangin on to the coffee table and chase his sister around it faster than you can count to 10 BUT hanging on to it mostly. I know he will do it eventually without havin to be told COME TO MOMMA but When? how long usually does it take? My daughter as soon as she took her fist steps she was done for that was it she was off to the races. So i am wondering do i contuinue to coax him to build his confidence or will it build better on his own?

What can I do next?

I don't remember, but it did happen b/c now I can hardly catch my daughter.

Either way, he'll learn, whether you coax or not. Do whatever seems like the most fun for him seems like the right answer.

Just give him time. As you know, they're all different. One day he'll get interested in something, take off and won't even know he's doing it.

My daughter went thru this same thing. She was walking but kept hanging on to stuff and would only let go when coaxed.

Now I miss those days. Just one day she let go and hasn't stopped since.

He'll do it. All kids take time. My first daughter let go no problem...second took her time (a few weeks---almost a month!) to just let go without us coaxing her. It mainly came I think when I would walk out of the room and her sister would come with me. She didn't want to be left alone so she let go.

Is he pushing up off the floor from a seated position to walk? That's really the next step to it and that's when both of my girls really took off!
