My 19 month old has been a great 12 hour a night sleeper since she was 10 months old. Bed at 7 pm, wake at 7 am. Since day light savings time, she now wakes between 5:30 and 6am. She is still tired but won't go back to sleep. Anyone else have this problem with the time switch? Any suggestions. I have tried moving bedtime a bit later, but she still wakes up early, just more tired!! Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the advice. It is nice to know I am not alone. I guess I will need to go to bed earlier and use the morning to spend time with her! Thanks

Hi B., have you tried giving her some milk or even making the room darker.....possibly waking her up in the middle of the night for a change (around 3) crazy I know, but that may through her clock off enough to have her sleep longer.
Hope that helps a little.

Somewhere I learned that putting kids to bed later does not help them sleep later. I had a friend who used to try the deprivation with her daughter and she still continued to get up before the sun. I was shocked at how late she let her stay up. I told her what I read and that my kids (6 mo. older than her daughter)were down by 7:00. She tried putting her to bed earlier and it worked. Her daughter slept in an additional hour.

I'm not sure if this will help since your daughter started out being a great sleeper.

How are her naps?

My 15 1/2 month old is the same way except for him it is 5:00 am every day! I tried to up his bed time but no matter what I do it doesn't work, I think all of mine have done this at one time or another, but know sleep to a better time, I think it is a phase, and he will outgrow it slowly, of course as a young girl I to was an early riser, so he may just follow in my foot steps, Sorry I couldn't be more help, I just wanted you to know that you are not alone!

I had this same issue. Here are the responses I got.

Now she's almost 3 and sleeps from 8 pm to 6 am. I've just grown used to having my own little alarm clock. :-) I wish she'd sleep later, but I guess this is how it is for now.
