It has got to be the most antagonizing thing, ever! Don't you think?? I had a phone interview, and two face-to-face interviews, and they were supposed to be doing the background check and reference check (which I was told takes 4-5 days). I should have this, right? Ugh...I feel SO antsy!! And, then I worry I won't get it. The wait is killing me!! LOL... How do I stay positive and relaxed?

What can I do next?

I feel your pain lady -- and it's not even me waiting for an offer, it's my husband. He had three face-to-face interviews going up the chain of command all the way to the vice president of the company. The wait is killing ME... my husband doesn't seem all that worked up about it (he is currently employed). Good luck!

It does take time to go through the process. Background checks can take a while depending on the county they are checking. What time frame did they give you? Take a deep breath and relax. I would keep looking just in case. Fingers crossed!!!

Distraction as much as possible! And when you can't help but think about it, remember that they wouldn't have invested so much time in you (3 interviews, plus calling references) if they didn't think you were a very very good candidate.

Good luck!!!

Did you sent them a thank you note after each in-person interview?

I would send them an e-mail letting them know you are still very much interested in the position and becoming part of their team!!!

How to stay positive and relaxed? Take deep breaths...

know that it can take some time to get things accomplished and together...I have a candidate that has been waiting 3 weeks...it's horrible on us both....

No amount of worrying will change anything. You cannot influence that decision at this point, or speed it up. So the worrying has a negative effect on YOU. Even if you don't get the job, it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you - don't give other people that amount of power over you. You have a life - live it!

I have NEVER had a person who hired me get back to me when they say they will. They are always at least a week later than they said they would be, and I still got the job. ;) Remember, waiting another week won't matter in the long run - you will have the job for a long time!

And whether they contact you today or next week won't change the result. NO worrying will change whether they hire you or don't. But, I agree, I HATE WAITING!

Best wishes!
