Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of where/how to volunteer with a 2-year-old. I want to do something that includes her, rather than have to get a babysitter so that I can go by myself. I'm looking for something in the Mukwonago/Waukesha/Milwaukee area that's maybe an hour or two long, once a week (I just started school full time). I already do stuff at my church but I'm looking for something outside of Sunday's. Any ideas would be great! Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have always wanted to find the perfect volunteering fit too. What we've recently done is started making dinner for a very sick and needy family that belongs to our church. It is once a month and my daughter can "help" make the dinner and go with me to drop it off. It is a perfect fit for us now while she is still so young. Maybe there is a family like this at your church? Otherwise, we are always looking for other volunteers to help with this particular family as well...you can email me if you are interested (____@____.com)

Also...the Sunday paper posts volunteer needs...maybe look through there to find something?! Good luck!

I have a friend who takes her son 2 yo son to volunteer at a nursing home. They help lead Bingo, read with the residents, and just have a little guy running around brightens their day. I think if you just call up a near by nursing home, they would have an activities director who could help you if you're interested.

I don't know if they accept volunteers for this but I know our local library has a story time for different age groups. They typically read a story then have some kind of activity after. Maybe you could call the library and see if you could vol. for this.

I was asking the same question to my sister and she suggested, taking the kids to a nursing home to visit the elderly or asking the church for a list of shut in's who would like some company.
