My 4 y/o had his tonsils out yesterday due to obstrctive sleep apnea. His voice is now very high pitch sounding - I realize this is normal after the surgery and usually goes away. Just wanted to know if anyone else has been through this and did indeed find the voice going back to normal. I miss the way he usually sounds!!:(
My son had the same thing happen after his tonsilectomy when he was 3 1/2 (he is now 5). His voice did go somewhat back to normal, it wasn't as high pitched or scratchy, but it never sounded totally back to the way it was before. However, it does now sound totally normal, and we quickly got used to his new tone.
Yes and my daughter's voice is back to normal and her singing voice is beautiful again. I had the same concerns when I heard her voice after surgery. It lasts a little while, maybe 2-3 months in our case and then slowly started sounding like her again.
Both my girls had tonsillectomy, and both girls had that happen. The high-pitch went down some, but their voice never went back to the way it was before.
