I have been on clomid for 10 months and no luck. I decided to take an herb called vitex by natural factor 3x's a day. I started on day 5 of my cycle and i have been taking it 3x's a day. I do notice while on vitex I have no cramps except for my face is slightly breaking out. While I was on clomid I was always bloated and cramping. I took an opk test and it was positive on day 18th. anybody on vitex by natural factor? if so how many capsules are you taking. Also does anybody know if you have been on clomid for a while does vitex kick in faster in your body. by the way, I do feel different (I feel balanced) since I have been on vitex for only 13 days. I hope this works for me soon because I am 40 years old and would like to have at least 2 children.

thanks ladies

I know vitex and soy isoflavones can be a good replacement for clomid - you just don't want to take them with clomid - there are a lot of threads on this over at soulcysters.net (a pcos message board) in the infertility and ttc forum

There's also FertiliTea that has vitex in it and I believe fertility vitamins as well....you could look into those

IDK what the dose would be for vitex if you're taking capsules - but, I would love to know since if clomid doesn't work for me I was considering alternative therapies as well

You should also look into fertility acupuncture

You might want to go to an RE/fertility specialist so they can make sure that you are ovulating and if you are responding then make sure your tubes are open, everything is good and that you are actually releasing an egg...

If you're not I would also recommend charting your BBT (temp) and if you want info on that I recommend fertilityfriend.com

Good luck!

I don't know what Vitex is but Clomid is not recommended for more than 3 consecutive cycles and no more than 6 lifetime cycles - sounds like you are not seeing a specialist but rather an OBGYN who is not trained in fertility. It's time to ask for a referral to an RE (reproductive endocrinologist). Good luck!!!

Pookie, for the best chances of pregnancy, please undergo a course of treatment with an acupuncturist who specializes in women's health and fertility. There have been a gazillion published studies over the past 10 years showing that the chances of achieving pregnancy, with OR without fertility drugs, is when acupuncture and traditional herbal medicines are incorporated into the program. It may take 3-6 months and you need to be patient for at least that long, but that's how long it really takes to optimize the reproductive system naturally.

Hi Pookie - Try Juice Plus fruit and vegetable capsules. It's concentrated food, not a supplement (28 fruits, veggies, berries juiced and dehydrated - no herbacides, pesticides, sugar or salt remains, nutrition/enzymes stay intact). Dr. William Sears believes, due to the incredible research proving it improves help and helps sustain pregnancy, that it will become the standard of care for pregnant women. I have a great webinar on this, some stats on pregnancy results I can forward to you, or you can check out the research and what the docs say at www.WeThriveonJuiceplus.com. Good luck!!

If you are 40 years old and have been trying to conceive for a year without success, get yourself to an RE - and FAST! I ended up doing 9 IVF cycles, and I do remember that I was taking something from Juice Plus that had soy isoflavones in it...my RE had me STOP taking it. I know a girl who used to eat a lot of soy, but couldn't conceive. When she stopped, she did.

I'd get a complete workup for both you and your husband. You don't have time to waste. At 40 years old, your fertility is greatly reduced. Any undiagnosed issues will just put you farther behind your goal fo having two children. Not to scare you or anything, but I'd call today and make an appointment. Where are you located? I can recommend someone in your area.

P.S. - I did accupuncture with all of my successful cycles (not all resulted in babies)...someone who specializes in it. This last time I thought I'd save time and money and try a guy near my work. What a quack! Ended up spending the time and money to go to the one I was certain knew what she was doing.

Good luck to you!
