Hi Great moms,
I do have vine flies around the house. They do come with my cat's grass nip even I buy the organic one. Any thoughts how to trap them or may be just get rid off them? Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

Fly paper--if you are close to McLendons they have some great ones. Put it near the windows way up high so the children can't reach it. It is amazing how it works.

Hi DJ! I have them as well...and I have no animals in my house! And my neighbor has them. They are for some reason bad this year!

I am not sure if they are the same as white flies, but I used water, dish soap and a little vegi oil. Put it in a spray bottle and spritz away.

I tried the vinegar, dish soap, wine.. didn't work for my house.
what finally worked was putting beer (Coors Lite) in a small dish with plastic wrap over top w/ holes poked in the top.. and also being very diligent about taking the trash out/ cleaning the high chair/ not leaving anything out on the counter including bananas.

Happy fly hunting : )

I've had good luck with vinegar and dish soap - I didn't have cider vinegar so I added some sugar to white vinegar and a few drops of soap; it worked like a charm.

Pour 1/2 c of apple cider vinegar into a mug (I didn't have the apple cider vinegar so I combined apple juice with white vinegar), add a couple drops of liquid dish soap (I use lemon joy), stir and let sit open on the counter next to your fruit bowl (or wherever you need it). The flies are drawn to it - they hover awhile and eventually drown (there's really no nice way to put it). Honestly, I was skeptical, but I've done this a number of times and it works like a charm!!
Good luck!

An easier way to use the cider vinegar is to fill a small dish 1/3 to 1/2 full, seal it tight with plastic wrap and poke a pencil through the wrap 5 or 6 times. So simple and it works so so good! Some people have suggested to use wine, which does work, but I found that the cider vinegar attracts them quicker.

If Vine bugs are like fruit flies, there's an amazingly simple solution that takes care of them - ALL of them!

Take a tall, round glass and put some apple cider vinegar in the bottom. Then roll a piece of paper into an ice cream cone shape that fits the glass so that it rests above the liquid and leaves no gaps around the top. We use a piece of tape or two to keep the cone stuck to the glass. The flies fly in the top and come out the tiny hole at the bottom and hover around the liquid - but they can't figure out how to get back out, it's fabulous!

If that fails, I can only offer the following alternative suggestion: give your cat some chop sticks, keep chanting the mantra, "wax on, wax off!" and pray he is as fast an accurate with those things as he is with his own claws! Then, call Ripley!! :-)

Good luck,
T. B.
