The virus is going around my son's day care and some have said it has lasted two weeks. Have not heard of th sore throat with this but strep throat is also spreading at the day care.
Just wondered if anyone out there has a child/children suffering from a bout of this nasty stomach virus. My son is on day 7 with diarrhea and terrible stomach cramping (thank goodness the vomiting only lasted a couple of days). I took him to the Doctor's office today and was told that it is typically lasting 2 weeks!! Yuck! I was also told that the doctor had seen nearly 20 patients just today with the same stuff. Just wanted to compare notes...

I don't know anything about the virus but I did see something about a lot of people getting ill after swimming in Burger's Lake. It's a long shot but might if he swam there you might want to have him re-checked again.
there is an article in today's fort worth star telegram about cases of cryptosporidiosis being confirmed from contaminated water at burgers lake in fort worth. it is a waterborne parasite that causes up to 2 weeks of diarrhea. most cases resolve spontaneously with just supportive care (replacing lost fluids). i have no idea if this applies to you or not ...just thought i would mention it. hope things get better for you soon
I don't know anything about that BUT, there was a virus going around when my daughter was in the last couple weeks of middle school in May and it was a nasty virus that would come and go for about 2 weeks. Luckily, ours did not last 2 weeks but it was no fun. She missed some school due to this one. It was really weird....it would come and go for 2 weeks.
I have no idea the cause of this one but glad we got through it.
My advice is to have his stool checked for parasites and rotavirus...
Good luck

My daughter came down with this a few weeks ago. It came on suddenly and for the first 48 hours she had a fever between 100.0 and 102.0. She felt absolutely crummy and had several bouts of diarrhea. The diarrhea lasted for about 1 week and then the stool was still a little soft for another week afterwards. She didn't seem to have stomach cramps after the fever broke and other than the diarrhea she wanted to eat and play like any normal 2 year old.
Our 4 month old had this (plus some sneezing/mucus/sinus problems with it) about 3 weeks ago when we moved from New Orleans. Our ped there said he was seeing it all over as well. Unfortunately it did last almost 2 full weeks.
We live in Wichita Falls. Both girls had this in mid May. It took about 7 weeks for their digestive tracks to get back to normal. I kept them pretty much on the brat diet. Only gave them white grape juice and no milk. Lots of yogurt, kefir and probiotic capsules mixed into applesauce or yogurt.
Good luck and be careful so the little ones don't get so sick they are hospitalized. My youngest was in the hospital in March for a bout of diarrhea that killed off all of the good bacteria in her intestins which allowed a bad bacteria to take over.
My two year old son got out of the hospital last Monday because of a virus. He had rotavirus. Throwing up and diarrhea. Serious stomach cramping. We had to admit him because he got severly dehydrated. He was in for 5 days. Now my 3 month old daughter has it. She's taking her bottles like crazy, so I don't think she'll get dehydrated. It's a nasty thing. My mom has gotten sick with it now because she was at the hospital helping with my son. My son it lasted for about 2 weeks.
I feel for you, I'm in the same boat. I think I'm at the end of it with my kids hopefully. I'm just praying my husband and I don't catch it now!!
Hang in there.
Has your child/children been swimming recently? My husband had a similar illness two years ago and it was traced back to the pool at the apartment complex where he lived at the time. They weren't keeping the chemicals in check and he swallowed tainted water from the pool.
Go to the health food store and get a bottle of "charcoal" since they are little, you can open up the capsle and place it in a little juice. It will be very black, but that is okay. It knocks out ANY stomach virus within hours. We use it.
Well Yes, I was wondering what this stuff was. It started with my son and I this past Tuesday. I had to drive like a crazy women to get me back home to use the potty! It hit my son later that day. The 2nd day was the worse with a slight fever, nausea and all over aches. I feel better and than cramps and weakness off and on. We didn't have any vomiting, thank you Lord. Hubby also has some symptoms as well. Two weeks! I hope not. Was there any sore throat for you son? Hubby and I are having one off though our son is not complaining of one.
Hope you guys stay well over there and you son gets well soon!
