I know that this may be a bit too personal but I am 26 weeks pregnant with my 4th. I have been feeling a bit of pressure and some aching "down south" so after some investigation I discovered that I have developed vericose veins on my vulva. I googled the problem but did not find very many helpful tips on how to be more comfortable. Any tips or suggestions. I am planning on calling my Midwifes office Monday morning.
Thanks, K.

Not that it's a funny issue...but I just had to laugh when reading your post. I had the same problem with baby #3 (9 months ago) and was so shocked when I actually put a mirror down there to investigate....actually a bit embarrassed, especially when I called attention to it at my next docs. visit. I was carrying my baby very low, which added to the pressure and enlarged vessels down south. The only suggestions were get off my feet throughout the day (not just sitting down, actually lying down with feet propped up) and/or wearing one of those maternity belts (can't think of the proper name). Best of luck and let me know if I can help any more. It's nice to know someone else had a similar problem.
I had one also with my 2nd pregnancy...keeping pressure off of it is what my dr told me to do. I laid as often as I could...standing and sitting creates pressure on it...it goes away after the pregnancy.
I had the same problem with both of my pregnancies. The only thing that really worked for me was to get off my feet. Also, both times my midwife told me that it would resolve itself as soon as I gave birth, and it did. So, even though you have to deal with the discomfort now (and for several more weeks), you won't have this problem forever!
Had the same problem with my second! Felt like my pubic bone was going to crack in half! For some reason it would hurt more in the morning when getting out of bed versus any other time of the day. Not sure why because I was off my feet all night!!!
I found that baths and ice packs helped though it was only temporary. If the pain was REALLY bad I would take a few Tylenol but not often.bMy doc told me to keep my feet up as much as possible. It's just one of those things you have to deal with I guess.
It did subside after my giant baby was born (ounce and a half shy of 10 pounds) but I still feel a bit of pressure at times. Especially when I am on my feet too long and sometimes when I have to urinate and have held it for too long. But it is more uncomfortable now than painful.
Hang in there and keep your feet up!
I had the same problem with my third pregnancy. My doctor said its not actually varicose veins its more like a hemeroid. It cleared up after the birth but was very uncomfortable during. I used hemeroid products like the tucks pads and witch hazel on cotton pads. It made things much more comfortable.
