Venomous Periods!

I say venomous becaue I do feel poisoned and the culprit is severe PMS that lasts over a week. This month I felt like somebody overinflated a balloon and implanted it inside my uterus and not in the pregnant sense. The past two months I was so overcome with nausea that I actually thought I was pregnant--not trying (yet). Mind you, my period has just returned after a 2-year hiatus (pregnancy and breastfeeding).

Anyway, I usually don't get any relief from these symptoms, until my period comes. But the week before I am so out of commission and overcome with exhaustion.

Anyone else suffer from major nausea/exhaustion before their period who can offer a remedy?

PMS and toddlers do not mix! My poor hubby has two crankpots!

Happens to me every month. 5 days before, I feel like I took some sleeping pills. Sooo exhausted, and moody. My back and breast really start to hurt a lot. :(

E,
If you're having this many problems, you need to get your nutrition worked out and hopefully you won't have any further issues. Your body is not ready to have a baby - yet. 2 years is a long time with no period, even for breastfeeding. Check with La Leche League, and find a good naturopath to counsel you on pre-pregnancy planning. Also Weston A price. org is another good place to start nutrition research for yourself and your family.

I only say all this because a good friend miscarried because her body was not READY to carry a baby yet, after carrying two babies to live birth. She was finding it was due to lack of nutrients in the food she was obtaining. She located an organic CSA, and after consulting her doctor and naturopath, is repairing what damage has been done by lack of appropriate nutrition in her diet.

She even noticed that after she started her son on goat's milk from the farm, the gap in his teeth closed up. In two weeks, a glass of goat's milk a day helped him grow naturally and CLOSE THE GAP IN HIS TEETH! I wouldn't believe it, except I saw him before and saw him after. First hand. Held the kid. Where I can get goat's milk from the farm, I'm looking for! Too bad stores can't carry it - the state has made it illegal, I found out.

So when I hear that nutrition is what my baby is lacking, and what she was lacking when she miscarried, I am waiting until I can figure out what I am missing (as I am not flush with cash until the savings plan comes out in the wash after taxes - ugh!) before I get pregnant again. If I get pregnant again. I may not.

Good luck in your search for better nutrition and better attitude!
M.

Mine were definitely the worst of my life when they returned after birth and bfing.

The physical symptoms slowly eased, but the emotional ones only seemed to get worse. I honestly thought that my husband was going to divorce me if something didn't change.

Got a prescription from my OBGYN for an anti-depressant for PMDD, and before I could know if it would do any good I found out we were expecting #2!

Give it a few more cycles. If it doesn't ease, talk to your dr.

I have horrid pms the week before my period. Everything pisses me off and in hungry! I take midol religiously for the sake of the poor people around me! That's my remedy but if you don't want to take a pill then im not sure. It saves me though :)

PMS has never been a problem for me. Never got a break from Aunt Flo, started my cycling again within a month of baby. I hear though that after baby and b.f. the first few are rough, then it gets better with time.

Good luck to you and yours

For me, having a baby lessened my PMS symptoms, luckily. But I had vicious PMS pre-baby for a number of years. My doctor who is into more natural remedies recommended the herb vitex (also known as chaste tree). You can find it at Whole Foods and health stores. For me it was like a miracle.
Good luck!
