Hi moms,
My son loves to make fruit juice. We mix all kinds of fruits and he gulps it in a minute.
Since he is not a great vegetable eater, I want to start making vegetable juice as well. Do you know of any great website that will give me great vegetable (with or without fruit) juice recipes? Or do you have any of your own?
I don't know much about this subject, I can't afford to buy organic vegetables all the time but I know that you are suppost to wash your vegetables very good to remove some of the pesticides.

Thank you

You can add in carrots, celery, spinach... pretty much anything to fruit juice, tomatoes are good too (technically a fruit) but many juicers don't juice tomatoes very well. Vegetable juice is pretty gross to me, so having one or two veggies in a fruit juice usually makes it taste okay.

One good way to wash veggies, is to spritz them with a vinegar/water solution, then scrub them and rinse under cold water. It removes more pesticides than just water, and about the same amount as those fancy veggie wash sprays.

I'm assuming you have one of the juicers that really make juice out of the fruits and veggies. Don't be afraid to experiment. Carrots are always a good choice because they tend to sweeten the juice. I would probably also always use apples for the same reason. Have had the little samples at the store demos that included spinach, celery, cabbage, beets, and a bunch of other veggies. Have yet to taste one that wasn't at least acceptable, and most were downright good. For my own use, I would probably always include some fruits or berries, but you can experiment and get ideas on what you like using just veggies too.

I am not sure of any recipes, but my daughter loves Bolthouse smoothies. They are a mix of veggies and fruits (they taste sweet) and you can find them in the produce section. The green goodness has broccoli and spinach along with apples and kiwi and some other ingredients. This is my daughter favorite and she doesn't know the veggies are in it.

you can add carrot or beet juice they are both sweet. You can buy them as liquid in the stores.

You could also add those "Naked" drinks, they are about $3 and there is a big variety you can choose from.

What about that V8 splash?? It has veggies and fruit and it's pretty good. We had a juicer for a while and it takes SO MUCH fruit to make a glass, it was quite costly. Carrot juice is really good...sweet too. Think you could mix that in (slowly so he doesn't notice the difference) with what he's already drinking. The trick would be to add changes, mixtures, SLOWLY andhe probably wouldn't even notice. There are alot of really good vegetable mixtures in the produce sections, I'd try those first cause it would be easy. Good luck!
