Ok, so the hubby and me planned a trip to vegas just for two days for a car show this weekend and were totally going to take the baby (a two month old) but now we are thinking one the hot weather and all the smoke and noises and so on may not be good for the baby. Now I have a friend I totally trust to watch her but we are not sure if its a good idea to take her or leave her. It would just be for one night and almost two days but still we aren't to sure. So I am looking for all the mothers out there to give me there advice. I am a first time mom and not sure on this one. Also its the first time to vegas for both of us. Thank you

What can I do next?

In my opinion, a two month old is too young to be away from both parents AND too young for Vegas. I'd wait until she's older.

I'm a mom and a grandma, I wouldn't take my 2 month old out of the house if I didn't have to. The Mojave Desert in the summer, a loud convention atmosphere, all out of the question for a 2 month old. Leave her.

Leave the baby!!! You have someone you completely trust! GO, take the trip! This opportunity may not present itself again for quite some time! If you're worried about your daughter, she will be completely fine. I think it's more us mothers that will stress than the baby.

I have taken my baby to Vegas because it was a family member's wedding.
Some of the nicer restaurants have a child-free policy, so do a lot of shows so we couldn't meet friends at certain restaurants because our baby wasn't allowed!
There is a lot of smoking going on. EVERYWHERE.
There are things you can do with the baby there but if you're there just for the car show, I would not bring the baby.

How old is the baby?? My husband and I left our little guy for an overnight trip when he was just about 4 1/2 months old. We left him with my sis-in-law so we felt comfortable knowing he was in good hands. I would say that Vegas is no place for a baby. Especially if its your first time there. Leave the baby at home and enjoy yourselves!! It will be so nice to have a little time away just you and your hubby. It's only one night!! Enjoy!

Is this a serious question...come on...alone time in Vegas with your husband...what a sweet chance to get away!!!!! I'd jump at that opportunity, no hesitation. As long as you have someone you feel totally comfortable with, I would say there isn't even a question!! Once you drop the baby off, run, don't walk to the airport! We need to nurture our relationships with our husbands or you end up with a much bigger problem. Girl, kiss that baby good bye, bring a picture so when you miss him/her you can take a look at it and enjoy the weekend with your husband. Oh, and right, it's really smokie and loud...not the place for a baby. :) Have wonderful time..enjoy your husband...and then enjoy him again... ;)

I love to go to Vegas but it really annoys my asthma. If you can stay in a Smoke Free hotel (one that doesn't have a casino) it's not too bad. However, all the casino hotels allow smoking so if you go somewhere it will be smokey. And it will be hot this time of year. I see people with babies there all the time and you can't really enjoy yourself with a baby. The baby can't stay in the casino and the smoke is not good for them. I have taken my son to Vegas three times. He was 5 the first time we went. He LOVES it! But he's old enough to go to shows and amusement parks, etc. The last time we stayed at Trump Interntional (which has no casino and no smoke). It was really nice! Since you are only going for 2 days, leave the baby home and go enjoy a weekend away with your husband. 2 months is too young for all the smoke and heat. Your baby will be fine with your friend.

Hope this helps!

Hubby and I are formerly frequent Vegas vacationers. It's no place for kids, especially babies. The heat, the smoke, the crowds ... you don't want baby in that, seriously. Since it's such a short amt. of time and you have someone you feel comfortable enough to leave your baby with, I'd just go with your husband. And have fun!!

I'd definitely vote to leave your baby. With the hot weather, smokiness pretty much everywhere, and the fact that going to a car show can be exhausting on its own without trying to meet the needs of a 2 month old at the same time, I don't really see any advantage to bringing your little girl along. You have a friend you can trust, so I say leave your little girl, go have a great time, then smother her with kisses and love when you get home.

I say just go by yourselves--you will enjoy the short time you have so much more. And I totally agree with you--Vegas is not the best place for babies--it is a lot of fun--but extremely smokey and loud. My hubby and I go to Vegas every year for our 2 night get away from our brood and we have a blast--sleeping in--eating late--taking naps--something not doable with a 2 month old. Probably the worst thing for you would be having your sweet infant covered in smoke smell--it is everywhere and impossible to avoid. I know it is hard to think about being away--but if you have someone you trust--go and have fun with your hubby--who knows when you will get this opportunity again!! Have fun!!

I wouldn't take the baby. But that's just me. One thing to take into account: How far away will your child be? 1 hour? 4 hours? If (GOD FORBID) something happened I would not want to be very far away. Otherwise, I'd go have a nice little weekend with my husband.

I would leave her, if you have a friend you trust. It's just for the weekend, and Vegas is really no place for kids.

It's SO hot here right now; excessive heat warnings for the next 3 days. I'd definitely leave the baby if you have someone trust to do it. It's not worth the risk of heat stroke.

The smoke is so overwhelming there. My bra smelled like it had smoked a pack of cigarettes---no joke! We stayed at the Venetian, attended a convention there and I was taken aback how much smoke permeates the entire building. I felt so dirty and it made me NEVER want to go back there again. I felt over stimulated every night coming back to our quiet room. My ears rang from all the loud noises I was exposed to all day long. I would never take my children, let alone a new baby. Vegas really isn't a place for kids and certainly not a place for a 2 month old. This is a no brainer, please dont take her!

i was in vegas about month and a half ago, did not see no babies. the smoke was over whelming for me, the weather was nice, but in june way too hot and noisy for baby. for safety reason keep her home, all it takes is one glance away and ur baby could be gone.

My 1st time to Vegas , I was astounded by all the smoking. We definitely have it good here in CA with the No Smoking Allowed in so many areas. You will be standing in line to check into the hotel and people are smoking- muchless all the other areas. I would never take my young infant there given all the second hand smoke you will encounter.

As Denise said - if you have great care lined up and it's such a short trip…go without her and have a fun time.

Have fun! T.

If you are ok with second hand smoke around your baby. The first think I notice about Vegas is the smoke!

You will have a much more relaxing and enjoyable time without baby. :)

I think its a good idea to leave her with your friend because of the smoke mostly. I also believe getting some couple time with your husband will be very positive. First time to vegas will be so fun for u two and you are totally right about it not being a good place for a two month old. Have fun!!!

If you have someone to leave the baby with, and you said you do, then by all means go without her. You will have a much better time. You really dont want to bring a baby that young to Vegas. You're only going for 1 night and your baby is young enough that she really wont remember or even know that you're gone! Go and dont feel guilty, just have fun!!
