I haven't read the other response so I apologize if this is redundant but there is a HIGH alcohol content in Vanilla Extract so please do not use it. Hylands teething tablets (available at Target and Walgreens) are life savers!
I saw a tip on the Vocalpoint web page that I am not sure about. It said to put vanilla extract on your teething baby's gums? Just wondering if anyone has heard of this or tried it or know if it even works. Also wondering if anyone knows what it does? Does it numb them or does the flavor of it just distract their attention from the pain? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated!!
After the first responce I had gotten told me that there is alcohol in it!!!! I was so glad I asked before I tried this "method". Second one came in with the same answer also. Thanks so much ladies. This could have been horrible. You saved me!!

I wouldn't use it-there is alcohol in it.
I used to buy the mini-bagels and freeze them and give that to my daughter to knaw on.
I'm not really sure what the difference between the alcohol make up of Vanilla extract and say...whiskey, but it's essentially the same principle. So weigh that before you try it. I would give my kid Motrin first, but that's just me!

Cooking extracts have alcohol in them. The percentage I am not sure of at this time. Try the Motrin, Tylenol, Baby Oragel, before trying that. An extract has much less than conventional alcohol sources, but should be a home remedy at the very last resort. Cold biscottis and teething cookies might be helpful during the day, and frozen binkies in the evening before bed or at night.
