My husband has gone back to school for his Principal License. His classes are once a week on Tuesdays. Well Valentine's Day falls on a Tuesday and he has class. We'll most likely do dinner the weekend before but I want to do something fun just me and the kids. My kids are 7(boy) and 4(girl) and I'm not sure what fun things we can do. Ideas please!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I like the Fondue and cookie pizza idea. I know it's more of an adult holiday but I usually get the kids each a little treat and we go out to eat as a family. For us the holiday is more about showing our love for eachother.

When my kids were little we would make large chocolate chip cookies using a cake pan or a pizza pan. We also decorated them with M&Ms, and icing....

We would even decorate pizza boxes to store the "cookies." Pizza places will give you unused boxes if you are a customer and you tell them what you are doing.

My kids are grown now and they still want the cookies!

Hubby and I will be going out on the weekend we don't have the kids (they go to my ex) but I will be making something special for dinner on the 14th for all of us. Over the weekend I found a Fondue cookbook at a thrift store for .10. In chatting with my neighbor about Vday, and the cookbook, I decided I was going to buy a fondue pot and surprise hubby and the kids with it for dessert after dinner. I think it will be fun and something new. I will do the chocolate with all the fun things to dip. I have seen them randomly sold at Goodwill, brand new ones in the box, so maybe I will keep my eye out for one. Maybe you guys could do that? Even tho Vday is technically for adults, I think its a good holiday to show your love for ALL your family, including the kids. We always buy them a gift and a few choc and Vday items. I leave them out on the couch at night for them to find in the mornings as a surprise, kind of like the Easter Bunny. Lol. =)

Since Valentine's Day is an adult thing, I don't ever make a big deal out of it for the kids. They usually get a small $1-to-3 stuffed animal or a dollar candy. That's it. There are enough holidays that are centered around children and giving gifts and doing things specifically for children. I see no need to turn a romantic holiday intended for adults to be catered for children.
