She could have a different kind of infection. It's not uncommon for young girls to have infections. There's one infection that results from bacteria in feces.
my 5 yr old has a foul smelling vaginal odor. she also has a discharge it is a light brownish yellowish color. it also is red like it is irritated. i noticed the odor so i gave her a shower and paid special attention that she was cleaned properly. when she got out she still had an odor. she has had similiar problems in the past. when i took her to the dr for similiar problems in tha past they took a urine sample and said it was a yeast infection. I dont think it is yeast there is no white discharge and it is a very strong odor. im gonna take her to dr tomoro, i just wanted some opinions

It still sounds like a yeast infection. She could also have a urinary tract infection.
Hi A.,
My 7 year old stepdaughter had something similar and it was a bacterial infection. We had to revisit wiping "front to back" with her so that bacteria wasn't being introduced into the vaginal area.
If there was a silver lining in any of this (poor thing was so uncomfortable), it was that it gave me the chance to discuss female anatomy/health issues with her in a direct, unashamed manner. I know a 5 year old is a lot younger, but your straightforward treatment of the issue will help her as she gets older.
BTW I have had a few yeast infections in my time, and never got the white discharge. Turns out I was allergic to the detergent and dryer sheets my mom was using. Can't even use scented TP lol...Hope your little girl is feeling lots better soon!
Yep, still sounds like a yeast infection to me. I rarely get the odor with mine, but I do get the other symptoms. It could also be due to irritation from bubble baths or soaps. It could also have something to do with the way she's wiping. A few steps of precaution: Make sure that she has a VERY low sugar intake, including juices & breads. Give her yogurt, NO bubble baths and COTTON underwear ONLY. HTH
Sounds like an infection other than yeast. Make sure she is wiping correctly and thoroughly and wearing clean panties everyday. Sounds like she'll need a script for the infection tho because of the discharge, I wouldnt ignore it very long...... these infections can cause sterility if not arrested properly.
