When I was preganant I asked my doctor about the clear some what smelly discharge. She said it was normal. For insurance I had to switch doctors in the middle of my preganancy. This doctor said the same thing. Well my son is now 15 months old. I still have the discharge, all day every day. Its the same looking stuff that I use to get only right before my period. I went to the doctor she treated it as a bacteria infection even though it was negative on the test. I went back to her today and she said nothing was wrong. That the womans body just changes and I will probably have this forever. Really? Everything on the internet says its normal but it also says it goes away after birth. I know its not a STD, I was checked and were faithful. Has any one had this ? Can you tell me what to do. Its kinda nasty and the doctor told me that with another child it would probabley become worse.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for getting personal with me! I went to a different gyno and was given a new medication for a bacterial infection! Yes again. He also told me that I have low acidity in my ph levels. He told me to use a vinegar water douch twice a month no more. This should clear it up and if not I need to go back to him and he will check my hormone levels. Yay! I have talked to several people most of which say this isnt normal. Something is wrong and eventually I will have a healthy body again! PHEW! BTW I asked if there were any vitimans, foods that I need to eat,no was the answer it wouldnt help. I do eat nonfat plain yougart like it was going out of style..just cause! Thanks again mammas!

Unfortunately our bodies do change and not always for the better. (ie. my boobs, my hair, my skin) lol In my case, I now generally (even when not close to my period) have heavier discharge and sometimes it's a sticky ewwy mess.

Best wishes!

Think about the medications you take regularly. A lot of women take medications for sinuses that makes them produce more mucus. If you aren't and this is just the way your body functions, you could consider taking one that dries up mucus to make your life more pleasant. Good luck.

For years my experience was identical. I believe the other women who have mentioned pro-biotics, flora, etc. are on the right track.
I had the discharge, sometimes heavier than others, no diagnosis from docs.
What finally fixed it was taking a product called "Fungal Defense". I think I found it at Whole Foods. You could probably find it at SunHarvest, or online. I wasn't taking it for the discharge, only because I had read somewhere that it can be a healthy thing to increase the "good" bacteria in your body after taking antibiotics. The bottle instructs you to start with one pill a day, then add an additional pill each day until you are taking 8 pills. You split them up during the day, which means that you end up taking 4 in the morning, and 4 in the evening. You then continue on the course of 8 a day total, for 8 days.
At the end of the course, this discharge I thought was normal and I would live with forever was gone:) The bottle also says to continue taking the stuff in a lesser amount forever. I have never done that, and several years later I am still discharge free. However, whenever I have had to take antibiotics, I make sure to eat plenty of good yogurt.
Best of luck to you, let us know what happens and if you are successful.

a doctor once told me that the vagina has a way of cleaning itself out. Eventually it will go away.

Hi Jackie!
I had the same issues. Lots of discharge while pregnant and then after I had my baby, it was still there. My baby is almost 9 months old and I still have to wear a panty liner. It's better than it was but still there. It doesn't have an odor, but it doesn't smell like "me". Sorry if that is gross, but it doesn't. I had tests done for bacteria and yeast and it all came back negative. I even took a cream just in case. I guess this is the "new me" down there. I also thought is was because I was still nursing and the hormones were going crazy but I haven't done that in two months.
If I find something that brings me back to my normal I will let you know. It's so frustrating I know. Doesn't do much for the sex life either. Just one more thing to make us self conscious after birth. :-)
Good luck, and hang in there.

I actually have this same problem. I've had the same kind of discharge since beginning PMS when I was 13. I've never considered it as something that was wrong with me, just normal, because it's all I've ever known. It gets worse and better, off and on. I'm not sure what the causal factors are. I'll be watching this post to see what advice you get.

What kind of business do you own?

I also have this discharge ever since I had my son. It is normal and it has become less the older my son gets. Some days are better than others and of course it may get worse if you are ovulating.

For me it's never been a bother so maybe mine isn't as heavy as yours. I wear one of those thin everyday type pads. I like the always ones the best. They make me feel a bit more comfortable and clean. Just my 2 cents.

It sounds to me like you are having some sort of reoccuring irritation. New detergents? Condoms? Spermicides? Soaps? I've experienced this with certain (latex) condoms and spermicides. You might also consider that your pH is a little out of balance. Make sure you are eating a balanced diet, drinking plenty of water (not sparkling) and consider adding some acidophilus to your diet.

I am finding that Mother Nature is not very nice to us when we get older!! I don't know if this will do anything for the amount of discharge but there is some stuff you can buy at the pharmacy called RePhresh that helps balance your Ph which may help with the smell. You can find it in the section with all the other vaginal products. Also, think about using a feminine wash for the external area. The Summer's Eve Feminine Wash is very gentle and has a very light scent.

I have the same problem Jackie. I guess I always have but it did get worse after my first pregnancy but didn't get any worse after the second one. My doctor can't find anything wrong either but said some people just produce more than others. He also said that some of the hormones/levels in my birth control could be making it worse and I switched with no change, maybe it will work for you. I guess it's someting we have to grow to live with, but just know you are not alone!
