The title is unrelated. I want to ask 2 questions altogether ^^.
First, about vaccination. My mom told me yesterday that I shouldn't vaccinte my son anymore. She read a book that actually those vaccination company actually mass murderer, that actually AIDS was created by them and many kids get autism because of that. My sister, however, always had her children vaccinated and she agrees with that 100%. What do you think? Honestly, I still believe in it, but I am scared if my son get autism. I never meet any kids with autism before, beside it will be unethical to ask their moms, why?
I read that two babies were mauled to death by family dogs. I feel so sad for them. I mean, what trigger them to do that, because usually dogs protect the family. Do you think it is related by what they eat. They say that dog food is full of bad substance, could it be possible that it affects their brains. Just like the antidepressants that trigger people to commit suicide or did shooting( like Columbine?).
I am really curious of what moms think about this. Thanks.

What can I do next?

What comes to mind about the vaccinations is the man that developed the muppet....Elmo...he didn't believe in modern medicine....could have easily saved his life. No...his life was a total waste because of his "beliefs"....what a darn shame and pity.

Oh, wow. I do not vaccinate my son, but all the things your mom is saying is bologna. None of that is true, not even a little bit. Your child will not get autism from a vaccine.

Dogs generally attack when threatened and boundaries aren't respected. Some dogs are just aggressive and not good with children, and should not be in households with children. I'm willing to bet that, a long with parents not supervising, and children not knowing how to respect a dog...are the reasons why most dogs attack them.

Columbine was not caused by antidepressants. Mass murders are incredibly rare, and committed by nutcases. Autism is not caused by vaccines. Neither, is AIDS. Dogs don't attack, because of their food. Not everything is a tangled conspiracy theory. I think this is a lesson in, "Don't believe everything you hear." Especially, when it's just plain crazy.

wickerparkgirl - You're being awfully assuming, don't you think? Nothing "fear mongering" about my reply. I'm willing to bet, the other answers won't be fear mongering either. Your comment actually does nothing to help her, or anyone else. There was not point in you even replying, to be frank. Oh, and I'm not offended...I just didn't see the point in it. E. is from a different country, and I believe all these things are new to her.

I'm sorry - but this is one of those - are you serious? questions!!

Does your mom believe she will get a check from Bill Gates if she forwards the e-mail to everyone in her address list because they are 'tracking' the e-mails???

Does she believe that aliens kidnapped her and implanted a device in her head? does your mom believe all the stuff the media presents?? where you in all of this?? where are YOU getting your information? the National Inquirer? This is NOT meant to be mean - but - really. Think for yourself and do research yourself.

The link between autism and vaccinations has been ruled out. Many would still like to believe it - but it has been ruled out. And NOT just by the "big pharmaceutical companies"...

As to the dog maulings???? The dogs were not properly trained nor taken care of. I admit that ANY animal - rabbit, cat, dog, horse, etc. can "go bad"...they are after all, ANIMALS. However - trying to blame dog food on a mauling is absurd.

Do you bother to do ANY of your own research?
Do you BELIEVE ALL THAT THE MEDIA says?
Even going "organic"??? The rules and regulations aren't the same..so how can you be sure what was in the ground, poured near the site, etc.?

As to Columbine? That's new - wow!!! they are blaming bad food on Klebold's and Harris' actions on antidepressants and "stuff" in food? It was two boys who PLANNED the attack with precision and knowledge...they were in trouble BEFORE their planned attack...and they came from "good homes"...it wasn't drugs....or food...it was their mental ability...

Autism linked to vaccines is a hoax.

The doctor that sounded the alarm, falsified his study.

There is a huge debate on the vaccination issue. I personally do not believe that it causes autism. EVERY child until say the past decade had those vaccinations - autism did not become prevalent until this past decade. So I say no, it doesn't cause autism. Again, there is a huge debate and you will get responses for both sides.

As for the dogs, no I don't believe it's the dog food. If you get all the little details of those stories, you will probably be able to figure out the trigger. The problem with news stories is that they don't always know ALL the facts and they sometimes bury some facts in order to make the story more interesting. Interesting stories generate sales. Newspapers are in business to make money. So don't take everything you see on the news or read in the paper at face value. News reporting is a money-making industry.

YOU need to find out your own information and not from scare tactics. You should sit down with your child's pediatrician and have a frank talk. Personally, I do vaccinate. I don't want her to come down with diseases that could be prevented. However, we stretch them out so she doesn't get as many at once. We work closely with her pediatrician. I know people whose children were vaccinated on schedule and have autism...and people who didn't vaccinate at all and their children have autism. I also don't think that AIDS was created by vaccine manufacturers. I think you need to find a more reliable source than the internet and your mom. People fear autism like they fear cancer. But the fact is, like many cancers, we just don't know.

As for the dogs, I suspect poor training and poor supervision and poor socialization, but without knowing more...

Well, I think you don't have to look far (literally) to see people that will fall for anything.

The thing YOU need to do is discuss vaccinating with YOUR pediatrician, do some good research and make your own decision. We vaccinate.

As for the dogs--it's always best to feed family pets top quality feeds. Do I think feed + mauling are related? No clue. I've never heard that.

Sorry, but there ARE people that will fall for anything--look at the birthers!

I can't answer about the dog attack, but about the vaccinations, I am agains doing them. I wish I had learned more when my daughter was first born, but I was young at the time. My daughter is 7 years old and is all up to date on her shots for now, but will not ever be getting anymore. No major issues except she would always get high fevers, and just be a little cranky. For my son who is 4 years old. I did not get his 4 year shots and he will not be finishing up any more, ever. He is partly vaccinated. Before we did follow a slower schedule, but I decided that we will not finish them at all. The main reason is because he did have some sever reactions and it's written down that he can not have some of them because of the reactions he has had. 2nd reason is because after doing more research a lot of them do not even protect you. Why would I want to put such awful chemicals into my kids that might not even help them? I do not believe that vaccines cause autism. I have 2 nephews that have it and I used to teach preschool and sometimes had to work with kids who had it. I do not believe that vaccinations have anything to do with that. It is up to you if you want to do it, but I try to keep things simple and put as little chemicals into their body as I can help.
Good luck with your decision :)

I have never heard of AIDS being created by vaccines, but I do know that Bayer knowingly sold contaminated vaccines to other countries infecting thousands of people with AIDS back in the 80's.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wg-52mHIjhs

There have been other accounts of vaccines being used in other countries that also sterilize people. It would not surprise me at all if our governments along with others do these things as experiments. It has been going on for decades by all governments.
Autism can be caused by so many things. The American lifestyle has changed so much since the 60’s and any number of things alone or combined can be the root cause. All the things we use daily to make life easier were not around 40 plus years ago.

Dog foods- Most brands are filled with fillers (other dead animals) and who knows what else. Masterfoods in Europe sold dog food that was killing the animals, there were thousands of dead dogs before they finally pulled the product.

I think most aggressive dogs are because of their idiot owners or they have been inbred too many times. Dogs should eat healthy foods like humans do a balance of meats, grains and veggies. No fats, dairy or sugar.

PS: There is NOTHING wrong with questioning what goes into your or your childs body.

as for vaccines, the doctor that claimed a link between them and autism has been proven a fraud and lost his license to practice medicine. It turns out he made the claim for money, he had developed a vaccine for measles that would only be needed if people stopped using the MMR, so he claimed the MMR caused autism. You can further research it by looking up Dr. Wakefield.

As for the dogs, no one knows why dogs snap when they do, but people seem to forget that dogs were once wild animals and they still have a part of that in their brain. dogs should never be allowed alone with small children, and small children should not be allowed around large dogs unattended or on the floor.

And no one developed AIDs, it is a disease like any other that pops up. It was not developed any more than any other STD was.

E., for the immunizations, talk to your pediatrician - I have done all the standard childhood ones, except chicken pox - he got that before the vaccine. LOL But, I find that now he is a teen that I am waiting on ones like HPV, HepC and meningitis until I learn more - but with ongoing conversations with our doctor. There are some standard illnesses that are easily preventable, and have been almost eradicated, because of vaccines - and that have been administered for years to generations of children.

As for dogs, some breeds are considered more aggressive than others - but with pets, as with children, you get what you put into them. If you train a dog to be aggressive, then that will be all it knows. I have neighbors with pit bulls and they are the biggest, goofiest dogs that I have ever met - they are friendly and funny. I have another neighbor with a little shitzu that is one of meanest little dogs I have every encountered. So both with personalities contrary to what is considered normal for their breeds.

Dog foods do have to be manufactured to certain minimum standards - some are better than others. I chose my dog's food brand after learning about ingredients and nutritional requirements. Just like I chose food for my son and me.

I believe that with research and knowledge, and consultation with learned professionals, we can make informed choices for our families.

But know that, as with all things, where you get your knowledge from is just as important as learning. There are many urban myths and frauds out there that revel in the sensational and use scare tactics to win people over or to sell a product. Always, learn as much as you can before making a decision for your family.

Read more about diseases and vaccines at www.thedoctorwithin.com . Vaccine ingredients are vile and serious reactions can occur. Do your own research, and I'm sure you'll see why she feels the way she does!

And actually for proof from the government (in fine print of course!) vaccines can cause autism..and SIDS:

http://www.fda.gov/downloads/biologicsbloodvaccines/vacci...

And in all states but Mississippi and west virginia you can get a medical or religious waiver to allow a child to attend school without vaccinations or with only some. Several other states also allow a philosophical exemption. I wonder how many other mistruths people post here as advice? Scary..

Different people have different reactions to vaccinations. Does that mean no one should get them. I am sure there are millions out there that needed them and would have been in much worse off if they had not gotten them. My mom has tired to convince me not to get them and I can considered not doing it but that's because of personal experence. As for right now they will continue to get the ones required but I will not let them nor will I take another flu shot. I personally have gotten sick from them evvery time. But how many people have they helped? I would never tell someone not to do it. It's just not for me and my children!!!!

children are born with autism. when they hit around age two is when its aperrant for most parents that something isnt right. if vaccines made children have autism then all children would be autistic. my child is fully vaccinated and not autistic. my friends little boy is not vaccinated and is autistic! i just think its a malfunction in the brain. there have been studies that show 6-9 month old babies that show early signs of autism. people just want to blame something for it.

as for the dogs its crazy how some dogs just snap like that. my dog is 6 months younger then my daughter and i could never see him biting her or hurting her. i have never known anyone who has lost a child by a dog or anyone who has lost a dog due to it mauling a child.
my own dog has bit 2 kids both bites were prevoked by the children who were told to leave the dog alone (my dog has anxiety which can turn into aggression). my nephew was irritating my dog and my dog kept moving away. before i was able to put my dog outside he bit my nephew. he did not draw blood but did bruise his arm. the second bite was one of my husbands little cousins. he was chasing the dog and cornered him. i assume it was a fight or flight thing for my dog and when the kid went to grab him he bit his hand puncturing it. cousin was fine.
if these bites were unprevoked my dog would in a new home that did not have small children. he is a great dog but doesnt do well in busy high stress situations. this is something i have to deal with as his owner.
