Mine are usually just a couple days after. Seem to have a slight fever so I just give tylenol or motrin as needed.
Hello Ladies! A quick question for you...my son just received his two month shots. How long was your baby irritable after the shots?
Thanks for your input! I gave John the Tylenol on the day of his shots, once the following day, and yesterday twice. Today he seems soo much better and hasn't been irritable at all! I think it just took his little body a little bit longer to work things out.
Thanks for the input!

My son is Autistic. I have always suspected the Immunizations he got as a possible cause although all the Pharm Companies spend lots of money to convince us that is not the case. My thoughts are why do the kids have to get so many shots at once? Why do young babies have to be immun from Polio? When is the last time there was a case of Polio in this area?
If your child had a strong reaction I would talk to your doctor about which shots are really necessary when they are very young and hold off on the ones that can wait. Also, get the ones that cant wait one at a time so that if he is having a reaction, you will know which shot is causing the reaction.
My daughter was irratabile-- barely for about 24 hours. Try giving your son tylenol or motrin about an hour before your next round. That really seemed to help us out! And-- exercise those little legs often:)
Hi Gina,
Here we go...vaccination adverse reactions.
The irritability is an indication of this and your child's body is trying to tell you something. Your best bet is to find accurate information about vaccines. Your pediatrician won't be of much help here. Sorry.
Thankfully the interent is loaded with sites finally giving parents access to real information about the risks and "perceived" benefits of vaccines.
Please avail yourself of this opportunity to begin to think for yourself. Some great places to start are:
WWW.NVIC.COM (National Vaccine Information Center)
I have found it's always eye-opening to do your own research rather than continuing to go along with the status quo.
I hope this is helpful.
Most of the reactions (the fever and soreness) is usually gone around 24-36 hours. Sometimes it takes 2-3 days before my daughter is completely back to "normal".
all children are different.. my daughter ran fevers up to 102 for 24-48 hours.
my son had no real reaction.
neither of them were irritable.
Gina -
My son was very irritable and ran fevers (102 - 103)every time he received shots. The irritability lasted for about 2 days. I gave him Tylenol prior to the visit, and kept giving doses until his fever (which always came after) broke. As an infant, all he wanted to do was nurse and nurse after the vaccinations. His irritability improved once he was over 18 mos.
I didn't follow the "traditional" vaccination schedule. I delayed my son's shots until he was 4 months old.
Hi Gina, My son is almost 2 and the only reactions he ever had is a runny nose. My older son would run a fever for 2 days. As far as vaccines causing autisum they have now found that it is passed on through genes and not vaccines. I just had to do a research paper for school on it and you have made a good choice by having your child vaccinated. The illness that a child can get by not be vaccinated a far worse than the side effects from the vaccines. Hang in there the irritability will be gone soon, C.
Mmmm...I think it was not more than a day, if that. I think they recommend tylenol for the first 24 hours or so to keep them comfortable. Have you tried that?
hello,
I follow a book's recommnedations, what dr.s may not tell you about childhood vaccinations...please read it before getting any more shots! It's an extended schedule..they still get all shots, just not all at once..as far as being irritable..my son for maybe a day or two. .and same for my daughter.
Hi Gina,
As you have seen, everyone is willing to share their opinions on whether or not you should vaccinate your son. Please just go with your gut. Do the research BOTH for and against vaccinations if you are concerned.
However, your question was about the reaction so I am assuming your decision has already been made which is half the battle :) My son never had much of a reaction to any of his shots. The area was tender for about 24 hours and our ped. told us we could give him motrin just before he had the shots to help. Good luck, and congrats on your baby boy!
My son is irritable for 3 days after his shots.
You can't give your baby motrin until at least 6 months. I always do tylenol right when I get to the docs before shots. (with my first child) take care I hope this helps
Hi Gina.. My daughter is 1 years old... So far all the shots that she has had, we did the Tyenol for the 24 hours after..and no problems after that. If your little one is still fussy or running a fever, you might want to call your Doctor. Hope this helps.
