Vacation with Twin 3 Yr Olds

We are going on vacation in April. Yippee!!
Our twins just turned 3. When we've stayed in hotels in the past we've been able to put each one of them in their pak n plays. There was one time we stayed in a hotel and this was when they were about 2 1/2 and we just got a room with 2 queen beds because we were only going to be there for the one night. My daughter slept in one bed with me and my son in the other bed with my husband. None of us got any sleep that night because both of our kids are very active sleepers-rolling around all over the bed. My son actually rolled off the bed 3 times. One of the times he rolled off he hit the bedside table. We were shocked in the morning to find a huge bruise on his face from hitting the bedside table. Not to mention we felt really bad that he got hurt.
The whole night I wasn't able to sleep because I was trying to make sure my daughter stayed on the bed. There was a few times she came really close to rolling off, but luckily she didn't. Needless to say I was glad we were only staying one night at the hotel as I was exhausted from no sleep and all the stress.
Since we're going on vacation for 4 nights I don't want us to have to try to keep them in the bed and worry all night about them rolling off. That wouldn't be much of a vacation at all. And we wouldn't be getting any sleep ourselves.
So they're sort of in the 'in between' stage of being outgrown of the pak n plays, but still too small to actually not roll right out of the bed.
What does everyone else use for a bed for your 3 year old when on vacation in a hotel room?
Thanks
A.

My brother and sister in law make pallets on the floor. The twins and their older sister each have a sleeping bag and they sleep on the floor. Me and both of my brothers use to sleep on the floor too when we would go on our family vacations. Kids don't get hurt backs, etc. like us old people when they sleep on a floor! :)

Anyway, this may help solve your problem! Good luck and have a great time! :)

We bought my boys Ready Beds from Walmart for this very reason. I knew that if we had a hotel room with 2 queen beds, that they would not be able to sleep together (one is restless and wakes often) and they're big mama's boys so they would both want to sleep with me, meaning that I wouldn't get any sleep.

The Ready Beds have been great. They have them in several different themes. My boys have Spiderman ones and they think it's a special thing to get to sleep on their Spiderman beds. We bought a small portable electric air pump and take the beds with us whenever we're going to be staying away from home. When we stay at a hotel, we get a room with a king size bed and put the Spiderman beds on the floor on separate sides of the king bed so they can't see or touch each other... they fall asleep much faster this way :).

Here's a link to the Ready Beds:

I had to order them from the website, but chose to pick them up at the store so I didn't have to pay shipping.

HTH!

Hi A.,

We have actually packed one of those side rails that you can slide under the mattress. It still required an adult on one side of the bed, and we put chairs on the other side of the rail (just in case).

Another option is an air mattress (we've done that too) - not too far to fall.

Good luck! Have fun! And definitely get some sleep, so you can enjoy your vacation.

I don't know how tall you or your husband are, but I'm short enough that this works for me... Lay across the bed instead of the "correct" way and have your children sleep closer to the headboard while you sleep closer to the foot of the bed. I also think the suggestion of the Ready Beds is a really good idea. Good Luck and (hopefully) Sweet Dreams! :)

Onestepahead.com has an inflatable bed rail that you can take with you on your trip. It would probably be the least bulky item you could find to remedy this problem. Here's the link... http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId.... Hope this helps.
