Hey Ladies,
I was wondering if their is anything such thing as a quality used laptop. I am dying to get one (my teenage step-kids have customized our home computer so much that their is no room for my stuff, and they have been known to download viruses that have required a complete erase) of my own. We really cannot afford to get a new one, so my question is where can I get one that is decent quality at a good price, and what is a "good price" for one?

Ebay. I've gotten 4 - that we use in our business - on there. We stick to IBM T40 or higher and they can run about $250 - $400. They're workhorses and are very stable.
***Also - they are what most large corporation use (I had one when I worked for a large bank). Something has to be said for that. On the new side these things are $1500+ machines.

I got my first laptop about 4 years ago from a used computer store. It was $400. Now, I am on my 3rd laptop, and we just got it at Circuit City for around $600. I would recommend that you get a new one... They are not that much more expensive, and well worth it when you compare quality.

I would go with a new one with a warranty and buy the best you can afford. You can get some reasonable new laptops.
There is a woman who sells them on Ebay--her seller name is Aaircal. She is very nice and accountable, and happens to be in the DFW area. I bought my husband one about a year ago, and while it's not fancy, it does everything he wants, and with a wireless adaptor included, I paid $200.

I never even thought of this, but I am about to get a new laptop - cant really afford it, so I could sell you my old one when I get the new one!
It is a mac ibookg4 and it is in great shape. Speaking of viruses- the reason I got a mac is for that reason! VIrus makers only make viruses for PC's (mac comprises so little of the market, it is not worth their time) so it needs no virus software!
