Use I Am SO Tired!

I need people with experience here! I am stinking tired ALL the time and have been for years. I have had the blood work (CBC plus thyroid), I exercise (Insanity 3x/wk + 1 more cardio + weights 2x/week is my goal), I sleep as best as I can, I take a multivitamin plus a B complex, I eat really well. I am just fatigued all the time. If it makes sense, it's not that my body/muscles are tired. It's like my neck up is tired. The dr finally just said he thinks it's Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I'm not good with that - I want to figure out what works for me. Any suggestions?

ETA: That November due date was almost 2 years ago!! I think I may have to update my profile soon....

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone! I added some Vitamin D (because it was easy to try that!), am going to give myself more time for hobbies, and may find a naturopath to talk to. One baby step at a time....

Adrenal fatigue maybe? Most likely food sensitivities.

Get tested for food intolerances!! Cutting wheat and dairy out made an enormous difference for me. I was shocked. I never had stomach issues but was tired so much. I'd either get tested or just try yourself. No wheat or dairy for a week, see what happens...

I mentioned this same issue to my doctor. She recommended a 1000 iu dose of vitamin d daily. She said that living in a northern climate and working indoors I likely don't get near enough vitamin d in the summer, and in the winter between long sleeves and the low angle of the light, no one gets enough. After years of this, you become chronically deficient, and you cant make up for it even during the summer. So.....its only been a couple weeks and I haven't had a full night sleep since then, but I have lost 3 - 4 pounds. first time in a year I stopped gaining!!

One other possible issue - sleep apnea. Do you snore? Not sure? Record yourself for a few nights.

Good luck!!

My sis had CFS and it seems pretty similar to yours. Hers is what she was left with after a bout of Epstein Barr when she was 13 - 18. Now she has to take Vit B shots and use the sublingual ones as well. If that is what it is, then it is real, and you need to address it! But, I would ask for a referral to a Rhumatologist just to make sure.

You could also try some melatonin. I know people say that and it doesn't work, but I think it needs to build up in your system, so don't stop taking it after the first few nights. I have to take 10-15mg a night for it to work and it took about a week to see a result.

Also, fish oil is supposed to really help as well. Or flax seed oil, but that is yucky! Good luck, I wish we had more help. But, really talk to a specialist.

You know, I had mono when I was 17 or so. Truthfully, I have never been the same. It really matters what I eat. I had to find out what my body likes in particular. I love sugar too, but it hates me.

Also, check your iron and Vit. D. Stress is a huge factor for me and with 7 children, mind you, some grown, and one on the way, there is plenty of stress to go around. I'm still working on managing that though.

But for the most part, sugar zaps my energy the most. And, if I don't take a nap, I turn into what I tell the children is "Monster Mom".

I had a bout of post-viral dysfunction chronic fatigue several years ago. It stinks when you are so tired from the head up. I took a few vitamin B shots but they didn't seem to help. The Dr suggested that I keep track of how much I actually was sleeping (turns out 14-16 hours a day... OUCH) and then cut it back to 8 or 9 and make myself stay up until regular sleep hours. Then I could have a nap on Saturday or Sunday. Took about 5 months of doing this before things eased off. And yes, it sucked and took a lot of willpower to do it.
I think there was also some underlying stress involved that was creating part of the problem -- I had sold a house, moved home from overseas, gotten married (so I moved again), gone back to college, found a new job. Now all of these things were happy things for me, but they are ALL very stressful and I had all of them within about 2 months. Look at your life, see what happy (or sad) things could be giving you stress and then block out some time to mentally deal with them. Therapy could help too.
Also, it's good to keep in mind that when Drs can't figure it out after all the tests, then the fallback is "CFS".
Good luck. I hope the tireds will leave you soon.

I had mono for several years it just never seemed to go away I felt like I had lead weights on my legs. I went to the Dr. walked out to get in my van and thought how am I going to climb in there it took me a while just to get the energy to think about getting in there. Chronic fatigue is a real thing it can lead to more sever things. I now use Arbonnes balancing cream which helps with energy levels too. Did this start and continue with a pregnancy have they checked your hormone levels. Adrenal fatigue leads to chronic fatigue then Epstein bar. I hate when Dr.s say you have this or that but don't give any suggestions to help us get over it. Good Luck I hope you start to feel better soon.

Um, your profile says you're pregnant and due in November?

That might explain it!

;)

Aha! Ok then, so you have FOUR BOYS now? And you "sleep as best you can"? Maybe you just need MORE REST girl! Like give yourself a break? Maybe a half hour nap every couple days? And do you work in addition to mothering FOUR BOYS? Maybe just burning the fuse at both ends?

You may need B vitamin shots (B gets destroyed in the stomach) and take D and magnesium-also-substitute an enjoyable walk or swim for some of the stressful workouts-good luck and take care!

okso if you've looked at the physical, is there something going on mentally? Are you unhappy in your marriage, worried about aging parents, stuck in a crappy job?? Be really really honest. If you start with that then you'll know what change you need to make.

Other than that have you checked for food allergies like corn or wheat?

Yoga is supposed to be good for that.

a new matteress??
