Urine Mattress

It was expensive, but I had a professional cleaner take care of mine. Many carpet cleaners also steam clean mattresses. I think I used Daisy in Apple Valley.

Vinegar water!

It took the smell of throw up right out of my daughters mattress. I'm sure it would work on urine too. That's what I use for all my cleaning now it works so good! I just have a cleanging spray bottle (Walmart for like $2) and then I dump it up to 1/4 of the way full of vinegar and 1/2 the bottle water. Then I add a few drops of peppermint oil to cover the vinegar smell. IT WORKS GREAT!!! My husband always says something when I use it that the house smells clean!

If I have a tough stain to clean I make sure to use the 1/4 vinegar and 1/2 water. I don't fill the bottle more than 3/4 full so it's not too heavy. It's a pretty big bottle...... CHEAP AND WORKS!!!

I just had this issue myself. I used Resolve Carpet Cleaner. It's designed to lift out stains. I sprayed it on there (not too much, just enough to cover it), waited a couple of minutes, then used a really damp cloth to really wipe it well to make sure all the carpet cleaner is off - so you can't smell it anymore. Then I placed lots of absorbant towels on the stain and weighted them down with heavy books and stuff. I left that all day while I was at work and when I returned home, the towels were wet and the mattress was dry. It smelled neutral so I know I got out all the carpet cleaner.

L., the best thing to do is throw it out. If you can't afford to do that right now- I have done 2 different things- first of all, I used the carpet shampooer on it, and stood it on the patio to dry. then I used cat urine eliminator-and still do if we have accidents. I figure if it works on animal urine it should work on human as well. Be sure to get a plastic mattress cover as well.

And after you remove the smell/stain be sure to protect the mattress from further accidents with a plastic or rubberized pad. Actually, I taped large garbage bags together and they worked just fine as a waterproof layer between my granddaughter and the mattress.

Clean what you can from the surface and then douse it with Nature's Miracle - use enough so that it soaks further than the urine did. You'll need to leave it uncovered for several days to let it air our and make sure it's dry.

You don't need to get rid of it, this is an easy fix. I have 5 boys and LOTS of urine accidents. Soak up what you can then douse it with Odo Ban. They have it at Wal-Mart and Sam's club has it in a gallon bottle. Works great!

I just did this with my daughter's mattress. I used a wash cloth and scrubbed it with an organic cleaner (though I'm sure any would work, I just like the scent of the one I have) and then used a pet odor formula to remove the smell (I got it at PetSmart for $8, don't remember the brand though). I stood the mattress up in front of the window with a fan for two days to let it dry and it worked great. :) Hope this helps!
