Urine

I myself would think that he may have some infection in his urine. I wouldn't worry yourself sick over it. If it was something very serious they would have had you take him in to the hospital. If nothing else ask your son if when he goes to the bathroom does it sometimes sting or hurt? He will answer you. I think it is nothing more than a bladder infection that antibiotics will cure.
Don't worry mom, everything will be fine. We all go overboard when we get that call and then think of how we reacted after going back in.

calm down. four year olds do not get diabetes.. not unless they are four hundred pounds. more then likely the childs urine was/ is a little concentated, very common for small children because they dont drink enough water.try giving the child popscicles instead. increase his liquid intake for a day or two, and then call the doctor back, and make an appointment

Some things change during the day sometimes for urine, or if it was left sitting before it was tested. I would try your best not to worry, the Doctor does not seem concerned and just wants to check again. Also remember there are normal ranges, but sometimes you can still be normal and slightly out of range.

I'd not wait until the morning. I'd have the on-call service page the physician on call and see if you can get in touch with your physician.

However, glucose in the urine is not going to be more concentrated overnight vs. during the day.

Having been involved in Diabetes for many, many years, they'd do a challenge (where you drink a glucose load - usually a sugary drink) and check your blood glucose levels 2 hours later or take a blood sample after fasting.

My guess based upon wanting first morning urine is that they're looking for either a bacterial infection or something else that might be spilling into the urine (such as protein).

Do yourself a favor - don't research things over night online. Been there, done that. It can drive you crazy. Just wait until the morning, and be there as soon as their doors open if possible to put your mind at rest.

Anything and everything can affect urine. Please don't panic. They did say a "little" abnormal so maybe they meant exactly what they said. There is no reason to worry yet, so don't. You know your little one can pick up on your fear so BREATHE!
