I used those blue gel filled ice packs - the flexible kind - wrapped in a cloth diaper or wash cloth.
Hi Moms..
I need to buy those perineal cold pads that you use after birth...but I cannot find them anywhere. Does anyone know where can I buy them in San Jose, CA or in Dublin, CA? Pls I only have few days to get them...
I'm not having a delivery at the hospital...with my first son I did and got them from them but this time I need to buy them myself..they were very good for me for a couple of days...I tried several medical supply stores but they dont have them.
Thanks a lot for your help!!!!!

I don't know what those cold pads are, but my nurse told me to cut open the top of an infant diaper and fill with crushed ice. As the ice melts, it absorbs into the diaper material. It works great.
I wish you well.

At my hospital they too used newborn diapers, put a bunch of water on them and froze them. Before they put them on, they kind of break up the frozen gel inside to make them a little more comfy.
Good luck!
You could try a medical supply store.
I only used them for a few hours after, and then they gave me a numbing spray. I'm not sure you would need them after your hospital stay, and while you are there you can just ask for them.

Try a durable medical supply company as was suggested by someone else.
You may also be able to try an independent pharmacy (such as Medicine Shoppe) that tend to carry more medical items in addition to OTC/Rx items.
Those are from the hospital and may only be given there. As for the ice bag mine always came with a cover and I was able to bring it home with me if all else fails if you know someone who works at a hospital they might be able to get you 1.You can buy TUCKS brand or generic store them in the fidge and they works just as well.Sometimes we just have to get creative with what we have at home
Epifoam worked great for me! Target or any pharmacy...
If you can't find them locally, I would just Google them & find somewhere to buy online. If you need them soon you might have to do overnight or 2 day shipping.
You might be able to ask your local hospital if they know where you could buy them. Who knows, maybe they can sell you some!
I took a really small diaper not sure if it was a premie or a 1 but get it wet with water and freeze it in a plastic bag. It worked wonders for me. The nurse at the hospital told me about it as i was leaving after having a 4th degree episiotomy.
