Unusual Gynecological Things Going On

I have some gyno questions for you all. All my life I have had VERY regular periods, even after my children were born. Since about Christmas, I have had bleeding almost all the time, not very heavy but a nuisance nonetheless. In that time frame I have also had 2 "regular" periods (heavier). I also have cramping, back pain and breast tenderness. I am not pregnant! I went to the ob/gyn and had a n internal ultrasound where a 4cm cyst was found. They don't want to see me again until June, even after I have called to tell them my symptoms have continued. My question is, can all these symptoms be from a cyst or is there something else going on? I have decided to change doctors because I am not happy with the current one but I cannot get in to see the new one until May 9.

Yes, these symptoms can be from an ovarian cyst. Often, it can feel like a phantom pregnancy... causing pregnancy like symptoms such as the breast tenderness, but the heavy/irregular bleeding can happen as well.

My mom had Uterine Cysts and I remember her saying her back would hurt alot. She had one the size of an orange.I have Ovarian Cysts and was diagnosed with P.C.O.S. and only have 4 ''regular'' periods a year. With cysts in this location you will get alot of pain on the sides where your ovaries are. You didn't specify where they found the cyst. But from the sound of it, it seems like you have it in your Uterus. You should try to get an appointment with another OBGYN that can see you sooner. Cysts can get really painful and heavy and I wouldn't want you to be in too much pain. Good luck.

Perhaps Planned Parenthood or another women's clinic will see you when they have walk in hours. 6 more weeks is a long time to not know what is going on. I'd also keep the new gyn appointment you have scheduled (or call and tell them the symptoms and see if they can fit you in sooner if they have a cancellation).

J.,
Very likely it is the cyst. Pain in the neck to be sure. 2nd opinion but removal is usually the cure for the symptoms.
Good luck,
M.
