Does anyone have any ideas for a unique baby shower. I have doen pretty much the same traditional thing for my past 2 children and I want to do something smaller and more intimate this time around. Maybe a tea room, etc???? Thanks!

What can I do next?

HOw about coffee and candles? Baby showers are a great time to relax and sit down with friends. Since you want it to be intimate there is this coffee house in Lomita, Awakenings Coffee House. They have a stage, a play area for children and a section for you to hold meetings or private little parties. And if you do decide to add a touch of candle lite, contact me!
Good Luck!

For my 2nd baby shower I really didn't need a whole lot and really wasnt into the games and traditional baby shower. My sister and I planned a BBQ. We had a bounce house for the kids, husbands came, it was a pot luck and BYOB. It was a lot of fun, a good chance to see all of our family and friends before we had the baby.... I now have 3 kids under 2, so I dont get out much... Just another idea.

Do you know if you're having a boy or a girl? Do you already have the "newborn" things you need for the baby, which ever gender it is? If so, why not wait until the baby is 6 or 8 weeks old and have a "meet the baby" shower. This will encourage your guest to bring slightly older baby gifts. (not so much 0-3 clothes, towels, layettes...) You could then easily have it at someplace like Mimi's Cafe (that usually have provate rooms) or Soup Plantation, Sizzler's... Where ever you preffer. Just be sure Dad(s) are willing to babysit the rest of the kids. (Your own and your guests.)

Or... I also read somewhere on this site about one of the Mom's had a "Big brother/Sister Party" and made it about their kids getting "big brother/Sister gifts" and had a huge jump house. I have thought about possiblily doing this if we ever get preg again.

You may even be able to do both... Dad has an at home party for him, the Dads, and all the other kids. You, the gals, and the baby can go out. (or EVEN... meet at the house so the gals can meet the baby, then go to the spa and leave the Dads in charge of all of them.) :O)

What ever you choose, enjoy your party and your new addition~ J.

How about brunch outside at Karl Strauss in Sorrento Valley, depending where you live, that would be nice.

If your into tea; you could do a Mad Hatter Tea party. Everyone would wear the oversized fun hats and you could take it from there. There is even a tea company that comes to your house and gives the party. They are Simple Graces. There is a consultant listed on here named Joyce Serocke. This doesnt cost you any money.
You could even do something like Chicks and Chocolate and make you food revolve around chocolate like cookies, drinks fruit dipped into melted chocolate, etc.........
There are so many intimate things you could do with your shower to make it different than the others.
Hope this helps.

Pedicures at a nail salon with the massage chairs, then lunch in Sisley's restaurant (they have a private room for about 15 people.)

Hi,
My family gave me a small shower for my second baby at a tea house and it was very nice. I am not sure of your location, but we went to one in Granada Hills. I really enjoyed it.

My friend did a scrapbooking shower in which at the party all of the guests created scrapbook pages for the baby.

Hi C.,
I have done a few Spa Baby showers. All your guest participate and get spa'd too. We do hands, feet, lips, eyes with a relaxation visulaization, it is very relaxing if everyone is willing to relax. It is soo much fun and I have had a lot of great feedback with this. How old are your other children? Kids have fun with this too, especially girls. Just a thought, good luck with whatever you decide. Congratulations on your upcoming event.
Take Care,
C.
