Uneven Breast from Nursing... HELP!

I am currently nursing my newborn & when she was 1st born, my breast were pretty even. After my milk came in, I noticed my right breast came in with more milk & was more full then my left. AS time has passed, my left breast is now more full. My right breast actually doesn't ever look like it's full with milk at all... EVER. I have been putting my daughter on the right breast more then the left to try & plump it up but it seems to not make a difference. When I express my milk to see if there is any coming out, there is. So I believe I am making enough milk in that breast. Is there a way I can make my right breast as full as my left one? I am a bit self conscious about one breast being bigger then the other. I am also pumping after her feedings to try & produce more milk to make my breast more even. Any tips? HELP!!!

-- my experience ( I nursed 3 babies -- for up to 14 months- and kept 'em off solids for as long as I could) -- is that when I did wean-- within a few months- my breasts were identicle in size --- and I didn't have a lot of changes in my breasts with weaning ( yes, of course they were smaller - but they were about what they'd been before each baby was born - in size and equal'ness and so forth--- be calm and all will work out --

that was MY experience-- ( aren't babies incredible???)

It's common. My daughter preferred nursing on my left side more than my right and my newborn son prefers the right side so I have and am currently experiencing the same thing. You can try offering your smaller breast first at each feeding, make sure it is completely empty by pumping immediately after nursing on that side. I also tend to think people don't notice what we do when it comes to our bodies...especially when you've so recently had a baby give yourself a bit of a break for now.

Sorry, but it happens and asymmetry is just part of nursing for some and not for others. Sounds like you are doing all the right things to stimulate your right breast.

My left breast was my son's favorite side and is still slightly larger with a lower nipple than my right (2 years later). No one notices but me. It bugs me sometimes, but honestly it is small price to pay for getting my son off to the best possible start. It can be hard to accept so you have my sympathies and empathy there.

Good Luck,
S.

Thank you for posting this question. I am nursing my son who is 6 weeks old and I have the same issue. My right breast is the biggest, but has always been a tad bigger- pre-baby. Now a days, Whoa! I follow the same advice as others have posted and try to nurse on the smaller one first then go to the other. I have accepted the size now and my husband giggles with me.

im breast feeding too and my daughter is 18 months old, she prefers my right breast more than the left breast....yes..my breasts are uneven too, but it doesn't really bother me as much..don't bother my fiance either, so its a sacrifice i took to get my child the best possible nutrition. Theres not much you can do but just to feed more often on the smaller breast than the bigger breast.

your body's going to do whatever it wants. sounds like you're doing your best to stimulate the right one. i'm sure it's more noticeable to you but if it bothers you that much, i'd suggest buying a pad to put in your bra to even yourself out.
