Ulcerative Looking Sores on Tongue

My 3 1/2 year old daughter gets sores on her tongue that don't really look like canker sores. She never complains of pain even with eating. She does chew her cheeks and lips occasionally like an absent minded habit. When I call it to her attintion she stops. She says she had bit her tongue when I asked, but I'm not sure as she is not a reliable reporter. She does like OJ, but gets only a diluted small amount daily. Has anyone had similar experiences? Thank You.

What can I do next?

Are you sure they're "sores"? My daughter had these patches that would show up periodically on her tongue. I thought they were sores too or burns from hot food etc. Not sure what they were but she eventually grew out of it. She also never complained of pain. I would just asked your pedi to make sure but my thought would be they're harmless.

I would call the Dr. this morning - I think it may be hand foot mouth (I know, horrible name!). It can be really uncomfortable for them.

Hi,
Could be a 'geographic' tongue. My son, and his Dad, have it. I had no idea what it was and really worried when I found it on my son's tongue. Looks like a map and can change configuration daily. He is sensitive to 'spicy' foods.

Hope it helps.

The poor little girl....I think I would take her to the Doctor. I would also hold off on the Orange juice for a few days. Citric acid may be the cause. Good luck!
