So I'm one of those "lucky" women who's always struggled with breakouts/problem skin. Usually not too terrible, but it comes and goes. Usually on my forehead. I used Proactiv in the past (like 7 years ago or when it first came out...) it worked like a miracle for about a year, then I don't know if I built up a tolerance to it or what, but it quit working as well. I continued to use just the cleanser and lotion once in awhile for years and it seemed to work better than anything else I tried. (but I would still break out regularly)
so... I had a baby 5 months ago. early on in my pregnancy I broke out terribly but it went away. Then I had that wonderful glowing, perfect skin and it lasted up until about a month ago. and now my "normal" skin is back :( so after my yammering, here's my question: any recommendations that you've used? Is the "new" Proactiv formula any better? What can/can't I use while nursing? Right now I'm just using plain 'ol Neutrogena soap, but it actually seems to dry me out. I'm scared to try anything new, my skin is so sensitive and freaks out easily. help!

I have used the "new" Proactiv. I don't know that it's any better than the old, but it doesn't irrirate my sensitive skin. Right now, I am using the Velocity line by Mary Kay that some of the other moms on here recommended and it is working great.
I used Proactive when it first came out and I had a reaction to it that made me break out more. Then I tried it recently and was fine for the first 3 months. I know I have to watch my total sugar intake--and then extras like holidays where it might be a little more I can expect some kind of break out. Dessert matters at holiday parties! :) I use Noxema and it works well for me. My daughter has been using Clean and Clear deep pore and her skin is clearing up but since she is 12, hormones are in the mix also. My husband can only use Dove or Noxema on his face because he gets really dry skin.
BTW, Neutrogena is very drying to my skin also.
I had super bad acne from the time I was a teenager on. In my early 20s I discovered Mary Kay and it has worked miracles. I've been using it for over 10 years, it hasn't lost effectiveness, and I still look like I'm 25 (good skin care keeps you looking young, and they have more anti-aging stuff too!)
If you don't know anyone who is a consultant, go to www.marykay.com and enter your zip code. It will only pull up one consultant (to not overwhelm you, it doesn't mean there's only one near you), and you can contact her to try everything (I love the try before you buy!!) And, unless you're totally averse to it, I would say go ahead and make it a party (with friends) - most consultants will spoil their hostesses with free stuff or discounts.
Melaleuca has an entire acne skin line called "Zap it", and it doesn't dry out your skin like many other acne products. I like it alot better than proactive and it is alot cheaper.
