My two year old grandson poops fine 1 to 2 times per day when he is with his dad! My grandson has shared time 1 week on 1 week off. My son had full custody for 11 months and my grandson pooped everyday sometimes two times a day! My grandson's mother says he does not poop for her and she gives him miralax daily! My son has him on a good nutritional program! The mother does not believe us when we say he is pooping fine. my grandson is very healthy and his development is great. he is a very happy child. what woul d make him not poop for his mother?

What can I do next?

It could be like shy bowel. I know I can't poop in a bathroom I'm not overly familiar with. Like when we go on vacation, I can go up to 10 days and only poop once or twice and then only a very little bit. The minute I get home, all goes back to normal.

Control. Stress. Knows he doesn't have to go with mom. Different routine. Tons of reasons. He is two. I say if he is getting one week of good BMs every other week and is at least going with mom - no worries.
Keep telling her son is going, so she doesn't get freaked out, if she doesn't believe your son - who cares. It is happening.
Can I share something, though - this post reeks of you trying to tell us your son is a "better" parent. Don't stir this pot. You are grandma, not mom, not dad. This has nothing to do with "one parent is better" argument.

Stress, anxiety, diet...I am sure numerous other things. I wouldn't be surprised if it is more the first two. If your son is consistent in his care, then your g/s knows what to expect when he is with dad. But then going to mom's house, that is a change in itself, and if things are different, he is going to respond differently (including natural body functions!). I would talk to your g/s dr about the Miralax (and make mom go along to the appt so she hears it too!). If he poops regularly other times, it might not be necessary. :-/ Sounds like a sticky, not fun situation...good luck!

Maybe she stresses him out or doesn't give him enough of the same foods. Your son could talk to the pediatrician about long term use of Miralax in a toddler when on his time there's no problem. Maybe the mom needs a professional POV.

Wow, that's a lot of emotional stress for a 2 year old. What a sad life already. 11 months of full custody and he's only 2? I think that's your answer.

Holding poop is a form of control over one's environment. Pretty classic response. Sorry. At least the mother puts him on Miralax and doesn't ignore it. Imagine getting him back after a week of no poop?

Sometimes these things can be inconsistent. At that age mine would sometimes have 3 or 4 poops one day, and then none for several. So long as the consistency of the poop is alright, and there is no evidence of discomfort, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

good luck to you and yours,

As a grandma, I don't think this is something you need to worry about. Leave this to the mom and dad. It's possible your son is giving him more fiber and/or hydrating him more. He also may make him sit on the potty everyday to go poop and she does not.

Don't mention it anymore to your son or the wife. Just cook enough grainy, green, roughage foods for his system to be clean when he is with you.

Good luck.
