He might have some muscle soreness that he's dealing with. You might want to try some Tylenol, Motrin, massage, and/or a warm bath to see if it continues.

Also, as Barbara said, watch him to see if it's a tic. I recommend keeping a diary, also. Look for the possibility that stress, environment, or foods might trigger it.
My brother and my nephew both have Tourette's Syndrome. They're both doing great. For neither of them is the Tourette's an issue now, but the tics were misdiagnosed for many, many years in both cases, which caused more problems than were necessary.

How often does he do it? I have friend whose kids have a seizure disorder and their seizures are very subtle, almost like tic's. Their disorder is one that children generally grow out of, but it's genetic so more than one has it.

I agree with everyone that you should have him checked to see if it is a tic or seizure disorder. Maybe you could videotape him doing it and take that with you to the doctor's, since he may not do it at the doctor's office.

If those are ruled out, then maybe it is his way to deal with some muscle soreness or tightness. Then I would consider seeing a chiropractor and/or a CranioSacral therapist.

Hi, M.,

This could be a tic. Keep an eye on him, do not make an issue of it and be mindful of whether it stops, worsens or other tics appear. Obviously, if they stop...YAY problem solved. If any of the other occur, schedule an appt with a pediatrician who should recommend a developmental test/s
The only reason i know the drill is because my 14 year old also exhibited tics and still at times does.
Good luck,
B.

See a neurologist, he could be having seizures. Good luck.
