Twins?

I am a fraternal twin. The only thing I can tell you is there were over 20 sets of twins on my dads side of the family and then none on my moms. I have read all of the other posts about how it only comes from the maternal side. I do know that fraternal twins are more likely to have twins, and they skip generations. Good luck

No, twins run maternally. But don't be too surprised if you get fraternal twins. They happen naturally even if they don't run in your family.

I have identical twins, boys, 5 and 1/2 years old.

My understanding is that genetically, twins can only be attributed to the maternal side since they are a product of either a split egg (identical) or two eggs (fraternal) and that can only be attributed to the woman's genetic makeup since it has only to do with how she ovulates. I could be wrong, but that is just what logic would tell me. I don't think you have any greater chance of having twins just because your husband is a twin. Sorry!!

I have almost 9 month old identical twin boys. And on my mom's side there is at least one set of twins every other generation (identical and fraternal). My friend's husband is a twin and his dad had three sets of twins. I know this doesn't give you a clear answer, but I've seen it with the maternal and paternal side.

I am currently 5 months pregnant with twins and as far as I know there aren't any twins in my family history. My OB said that twins only run on the Mother's side of the family BUT - there are exceptions. In my case it is more than likely that I'm having twins because I'm in my mid 30's. Your chances of having multiples goes up as you get older. So there is a chance you could have twins, but not because of genetics from your husband's side of things.
