anyone ever bought the ikea twin beds (not kids beds, just twin size? specifically HEMNES
Daybed frame with 3 drawers, white? looking for a twin bed for my 2 yo. prefer it with a trundle (not a must have) and $250 or less. i know the ikea beds are affordable. i know that the HEMNES
Daybed frame with 3 drawers, white is above $250, but i have heard people say they like it. i am not willing to look on craigslist. dh does not feel it is safe with all the scams and crazies that make the news from it. thoughts? im also going to look at thrift stores for even a frame and headboard that i can refinish.

What can I do next?

Have it and love it! If you send me your private email address I will send you a picture of my daughter's room. We did the same setup they used to show in their store. It is adorable and I don't know why it is not on display any more! The bed is pulled out from the wall about 1 foot then we did shelving above so there is a place for 2 little lamps at the foot and head of the bed. There are also two additional shelves above where we have picture frames and a few other things. So cute.

My question for you - do you need a frame and headboard right now?

When we moved my son to his twin bed, we put the mattress and box spring right on the floor. That way, it was close to the ground in case he rolled out of bed.

If you don't want it on the floor, if you are buying a new twin mattress and box spring, many mattress stores will also either include the frame, or have a very inexpensive one you can buy ($50 or less). It doesn't look at pretty as a headboard, but it's fully functional.

We've own a lot of IKEA furniture. In fact, the easier way to go about things is to ID what is not IKEA in our home, and you';d only find a handful of stuff, if that. We own an IKEA hemnes full sized bed, a hemnes sofa table, a hemnes TV console, a hemnes dresser (three drawers), and a hemnes secretary and hutch. All of it is good, but not great, if you know what i mean. So if you are looking for something with that aesthetic, and can be satisfied with good enough quality/ craftmenship, then go ahead and get it. If the quality and longevity is important to you, then maybe shop a specialty wood furniture store (we have gothic cabinetcrafters near us). If you just want a cheap fix, try some of their low end/ mid range products, coupled with some underbed storage like the MALM, or FJELSE (the latter for only $69.00).

Good luckto you and yours,

We have the Hemnes daybed, but in black and with 2 drawers. The drawers are pretty cumbersome at times, and the frame is very cheap. Within a few months of assembling it, the wood splintered off the metal connecting strip on the main part of the bed. A few months later it happened on the other side too. These beds are SUPPOSED to be able to be moved around, as ours is the extending bed that you are supposed to pull out and add a 2nd mattress when you need extra sleeping space.

I WISH I could tell you that it is a better bed than it is. My son's bed is 3 years old and we are going to be giving it away when we move.

The thing about day beds is they are completely uncomfortable to use during the day. I would think this one would be painful to sit in.

Really really consider a different frame that would be more comfortable to lean against while sitting. Can you imagine your back against that rail for any amount of time?

A regular twin size bed without being a day bed would be so much more functional.

I'd go for this one totally instead. It would be super comfortable and not have that rail in the way.
